Question about hardcore mode?
I love hardcore mode but having too pick 3 negative perks is bit overkill IMO. Is there a way to still play hardcore mode and disable the 3 negative perks?

The negative perks are part of what makes it HC.

I chose 'Numbskull', 'Hangry Henry' and 'Menace' that doesn't gimp you much at all, just adds a bit of realism.
You can still make it 'Easy mode' with mods if you really want to and just pretend to be playing HC, it's a single player game after all.

Just don't tell other people you're playing HC because you will be lying.
Yeah I know that I am taking away a "key" HC feature but it seems more unrealistic to have any 3 negative perks indefinitely. I was just curious if there was a way to keep every other aspect of HC mode without the negative perks.

I really liked KCD1's HC mode but for the life of me I don't remember picking 3 negative perks.

It was the same in KCD 1

If you pick the same ones that I took then it's not a problem, just balances the game somewhat differently, you will soon forget about them and just get used to it.
What do you mean 3? You pick all of them of course.

Besides, there's 3 that have next to no impact:
Bad Back, Hangry Henry, Menace

Bad Back is for the lols :D - and being hungrier is also quite nice, and Menace doesn't do crap if you don't run around like a lunatic getting caught

Best perks for minimal effect are following:
1. Bad back- Situational and only effects you for 10-20secs
2. Numbskull- Its negated mostly after you get perks in Scholar if not mitigated its nice to have things level slower.
3. Menace- Can be completely negated by scum saving

So in reality the only thing you will "feel" is bad back. Its funny when it happens its more comical than nuisance.
Just did Storm btw. - BOY did I get lost
I'm so bad at navigating, I got even lost knowing that quest by heart by now :D

The lack of an actual compass is the hardest part about the HC mode imo.

Always reminds me of that clean-up job at the church where Henry is like: I'm throwing my back out, maybe I can find a new one here :D - especially the chuckle at the end of his line always gets me
I personally chose all of them, and I didn't like having the barebones compass at the top. I went through the effort of learning the mod tools enough to setup the compass to just disappear entirely without having to console it every game. It's made the entire experience much nicer, I might even disable the buff indicators that still appear on the bottom since they feel more out of place without the stamina and health indicators at this point.

But it's a singleplayer game, you can play it how you want! You could simply remove the UI elements you don't want and play the regular mode instead of hardcore as well, just depends on the experience that you particularly desire.

"Hangry Henry" and "Menace" are useless perks after all. "Somnambula" could be annoying, but it is useless most of the time. So basically, you have 3 perks which doesn't impact your gameplay much. Why do you need to remove them?

Agreed. And yet, many of the other perks just seem tedious and aggravating. I for one, like HC for the increased immersion and 'realism', not artificial difficulty.

That perk is super brutal though because you always have to get your bearings

It's the second-worst debuff you can pick, first one being the carry-weight debuff
It's super fun though always waking up at wherever - Trosky was somewhat easy, no clue how this ♥♥♥♥ goes down in the Kuttenberg region :D
