hunger and despair: Does anyone have a solution?

After the funeral, I am supposed to knock over 4 ladders. But for me its not possible. There are to many enemies and my comrades-in-arms die very quickly. Has anybody a solution or is this a bug? I've tried it dozens of times now

It's not a bug. It's just hard to do. But is doable. Sometimes it's better to draw enemy's attention to yourself so allies knock the ladders, or kill enemies from behind while they engage you. Try to start engagement with a bow, if possible.

You need t shoot down as many ladder carriers with the bow (because of the fastest rate) - they fall in one shot, no matter the damage of your weapon, and then knock other (if they would) which would reach the walls.
