You should be using poisons
Doll Maker Poison specifically is easy to make and is absolutely wrecked in every fight. You can literally hit them once then walk backwards plugging them with arrows and having Mutt attack them. Also as a bonus so far it hasn't caused anyone I duel (like Tomcat or Hornet) to die after so there's no downside.

It also lasts forever with the perk especially if you conserve it by shooting poisoned men to death or swap weapons.

It's not the chivalrous way though.
That's what all those dead men said to me before they died with an upset tummy.

Touché! That legitimately made me laugh.

Yes, same here :D
Hmmm.

Your enemies are conscious, they're aware, and they can do nothing about being killed. I prefer Bane.
I do all the time, on everything that allows it.
Just use Bane, after it kicks in you can block and laugh
Bane is very useful for those idiots who attack you, then go "I surrender" - and then decide to attack you again. Except they can't because they keel over after surrendering.

That - I even let them go, knowing that they pop 2 seconds later anyway... "I'm a merciful sadist" :D or something

100% on arrows but I avoid it on melee weapons because it disappears pretty fast (not good for multiple enemies).

I once made the mistake of killing a bandit a split second after he surrendered (my blow was already on the way!) but in view of a caravan.

The entire bloody map decided I was a cold-blooded murderer.

Bane takes care of that too. :)

Depends, just pulling off the "Lent" achievement where I don't eat meat and don't kill animals - apparently poison doesn't count, or when you send out Mutt to kill off wolves, etc.

Otherwise I'd just bash everyone's head in really to save time - as said, 4th playthrough ;)

You can kill some friendly NPCs with doll maker so be careful. I went to go train with Mennhart in Kuttenberg, and he quit the session after I landed my first master strike. He limped just outside the combat pen and dropped dead. I can’t do any more tournaments because the quest icon shows the spot where he always stands, but he’s never respawned.

That, gladly one can replace poisons with other poisons to negate it.

Bane poisoned an NPC once and was like... oh... ♥♥♥♥... so I tried dollmaker.... ohh... ♥♥♥♥, then I went for lullaby and everything was friendly again :)
