I think there's a small chance they use the forge DLC to bring Theresa back into the game.
This is the one in which Henry is riding down towards the Rattay Mill from the gate up the hill, isn't it? The one where she's standing there with her hands on her hips and ♥♥♥♥♥ up an eyebrow when as Henry approaches? I got that ending even with having gotten a few full services and having gotten with Klara and Doubravka. I thought it had to do with the dialogue options you pick with your parents.
She's like Theresa 2.0
It apparently takes a lot of work to get even that. You must have acknowledged her as your love interest in dialogs as I'm under the impression that you HAVE to choose her with every dialog choice. But it still will go sour if you have ANY carnal relations with any NPC during the game.
I thought I'd be able to do the "babe, OF COURSE I'd never use the bathhouse wenches!" approach as I had in the first game. Lol. I didn't even get back to Rattay!
Which dialogue options did you choose in the end? As I recall, I chose starting a family and the other ones that would suggest going back to Theresa. But if the carnal relations part is true, it must have been bugged when I first finished the game.
Katherine is more Theresa 2.0. She's a commoner and they can bond over trauma.
I honestly think they should have just done 2 (main) romance options. One commoner in Theresa and somebody from higher society to represent the 2 parts of Henry's heritage. Rosa would have worked for that.
Katherine, Hans and the other puimp and dumps felt so tacked on (actually the wedding one was good) they shouldn't have bothered.
To begin with, I only invoked Theresa as my "sweetheart" 2 times in options. On me as I was keeping my options open. Lol.
I didn't tell my parents what they wanted to hear. My feelings towards these game, in an overly simplified description is KC:D1 is Henry Comes of Age. In KC:D 2, Henry gets to shoulder personal responsibility and become an adult. So that final conversation with them I was as truthful in responses as possible.
Needless to say, despite my committing no murders (I did kill the Frenchman without hesitation without even talking to him, as what he was doing, and had done, needed to be stopped), living as honorably as I could (pick-pocketed 2 people), the conversation didn't go well. But that's OK by me, as playing as Henry I can live with the consequences of my decisions.
I also think that at this part of Henry's story, returning to settle down with Theresa makes no sense. Continuing as Capon's protector and diplomat with an eye on entering service for my Lord, and biological father makes more sense. But that was my run with Henry.
When I play again I'm going to be doing some things a lot differently. I'm not sure I'm patient enough to go full Pious sin-free Henry, but I'd love to see that "secret ending."
