Absolutely worth buying—this game is my 2025 Game of the Year, with an incredible sense of immersion.
Even after playing for 200 hours and completing it twice, I still open the game, aimlessly wander the streets, and stop by NPCs to listen to their conversations.
The game absolutely caters to a straight guy’s taste, packed with crude toilet humor, and you can even bathe with busty, wet beauties in the bathhouse.
I am not saying it is a bad game though, it just needs a little bit more time.
The issue has been exaggerated; the game's completion level is already very high.
True malicious bugs are extremely rare, and they can be avoided simply by reloading the save file.
My suggestion would be to wait for the next patch. The issue with the bugs right now is partly because games started on the previous version develop unintended problems (this is an issue with many new games, so I at least was prepared), partly because of conflicts with mods (PTFs are fine) and partly because new bugs have been introduced. For my part, over three playthroughs, I've encountered two bugs. One is persistent since the game came out and has to do with combat in an arena and a new, funny one right after the end of the main campaign. Neither really affects the game.
I feel that if you're not the type of person to take to a public forum to complain about a hangnail, then you'll be OK. Or wait for one more hotfix/patch, if you like.
I played it all, took me 92 hours to complete the main story questline and I only had a couple of bugs that made me reload a save and some graphical once, I would say it's quite stable, but it's a pretty woke game unlike 1, not sure you mind that
The game is fantastic, i would recommend it at any time.
since you haven't played the first one, i would recommend you to buy the first one and play it with all DLCs, positive sideeffect, maybe there is more stuff out for KDC2 already.
It's fantastic and very well patched and optimised now.
Also super cheap, get all the DLC as well.
The other benefit is you will get all the background story and lore.
KCD1 is a super, super game.
I just got KCD1 in the sales too, so you could maybe start with that if in no hurry for this one. That way you’ll be playing both in their optimal state with full DLC.
But you need to save, and to save you need to make potions(or download mods that remove the requirement of potions).
Also the question is if you like sword/ranged(bow,crossbow and some early handguns) play.
