pavelna and herbalist

I just found pavlena hung by a tree and when i visted the herbalist woman i found her hanging in her hut.

does this always happen

There is a quest to talk with Bozhena and find that Pavlena is missing.
I guess if you don't do the quest, eventually Pavlena dies and Bozhena kills herself once she finds out.

I did the quest. I saved Pavlena and Bozhena was happy. So make sure to get back to Bozhena to help her in future playthrough.

There's a quest regarding both but I've never had an outcome where they get hanged.

How'd you pull it off?

Can only guess you picked up the quest regarding Pavlena, went to the wedding and then back so the village folks solved it?

'Bad Blood' is the quest.

I take it that's a timed one. lol

It’s a timed quest based off of completion of the main story quests, if you get too far in then you will fail certain quests that is why Hans gives you the 150 grochen to give to her to find her there.

Wow, that's a brutal outcome. Next playthrough, I will fail the quest just to see it.

she killed one of her captors
didnt kill the rich farmer for the herballist
repaid the herballist before going to the wedding

then i discovered all this after the wedding and castle quests

From what I can gather reading these it sounds like they are lynched if you don't reconcile them with the farmer or kill him.

Well the captor killing is inevitable, trust me, put on my best perfume for that and it's impossible.

You can let the other lad go that, unless he's like Moriarty, convinced me that he didn't want anything to do with it.

The killing option however of the farmer is a bit more tricky, dude runs so fast if you tell him what's coming, bow + bane would have worked but I didn't think of it at the time
Only way I could take him out was the good old fashioned way.... with a dagger. *insert psycho theme*

But even if they reconcile, I could imagine that Pavlena is at a loss and hangs herself and Bozhena sees that and is like screw that and joins the rope.


The best outcome however is still reconciliation - just like with toothless and the innkeeper :D

So what happened is that:
If you don't agree to kill the rich farmer, Bozhena and Pavlena kills themselves. I am guessing Pavlena saw Bozhena die and that's why she also kills herself. The opposite may also be true. I don't know for sure.
Killing the rich person is only one option. You can actually talk with the farmer to convince that the enmity ends with a speech check and he will let bozhena and pavlena back into the village and even give some money.

If you don't agree to kill the rich farmer, Pavlena will actually try to kill that person as she lost her lover. Pavlena fails in doing so. So she is hanged as punishment. And Bozhena ends her life once she hears this.

Let's just clarify this

There's the reconciliation route where Pavlena and Bothenka are allowed back into town, alright?
And then Pavlena decides to kill the guy and gets hanged for it?

Nope,

Pavlena kills the initial kidnapper no matter what, you saved her. Then talk to
Bozhena. She wants you to kill farmer.
Talk to him to reconcile them. If you succeed, they're all happy, nobody dies. Not the farmer, not Pavlena or Bozhena. Finished the game and Bozhena and Pavlena were still alive. They were told they can move back to village, but in my save they never moved anywhere.
Not sure if you need to find out about Pavlena's state. Farmer was super apologetic after Henry tells him about it, so potentially needed?

OK, so didn't miss anything then because latter is how I played it twice.

So how do you get them to be hanged? :D
I'd assume it's by not doing the quest and then going back to the Trotsky region?
Or triggering the quest and then ignoring it.... it's probably the latter
