I did always think it was weird you couldn't give money as alms considering the context and setting. Especially in the first game where it was your former neighbours begging on the streets.

I often drop food or a few groschen for Bara because she helped me out when I had nothing and she does pick it up.
"Ooh! What's that? Come to Mama!" she says.
Still it would be nice to donate and get a tiny reputation increase amongst local civilians.
And even in the quest where you need to hand out sausages, it only works for some, it's kinda dumb
