how often does Mutt need to be fed and praised?
I forget this mechanic a lot and Mutt is MIA or nonresponsive in tight situations.

I usually toss him piece of meat in the morning when I wake up and give him a hug at the same time. That is about it.

Much like in real life once in morning and again at night , praising after each. I also praise him after he pulls my bacon out of the fire.
Once you have houndmaster leveled high enough, you can pretty much forget about feeding or praising Mutt. I have done neither for ages and obedience stands around 85%.
Untill then, you can try feeding it everytime Henry eats something.

I don't feed him much, it's seem it's not go lower than 80 or more than 80%, more or less, (I couldn't get to 100% as well even I did pet and feed mutts, so let said you don't had to worry about feed him or anything.
I dont call him at all, out of combat hes just too annoying to keep him around keeps walking infront of me and prevents me from getting any where, i dont even call him any more.

+1
I praise him pretty often because I have a dog in real life so it comes naturally, as for feeding, I think twice a day is enough, when I eat, he eats.
If I hunt, I always give him a bit of fresh game as well.
I understand why he irritates people but to me it's all part and parcel of having a dog, I don't find him annoying at all.

You can check his obedience level in the sidekicks tab. So numerically you can max him by feeding him ad absurdum and always praising him after he gobbled down.

Feeding him twice a day with a pat on the head afterwards will keep him loyal in general.
