Is stealing the same?
In KCD1 I used to make a fortune waiting at the weapon shop in the back room corner. The shop keeper would go upstairs with his bodyguard and not notice. If you time it correctly, you would have about 5 minutes to steal all the expensive weapons and stuff. Then I'd sneak out back to the Miller's and rinse and repeat. Sometimes I'd get caught though which was fun. Is it the same here in KCD2?

Not sure but if they see you lurking around there and then stuff went missing I'm quite sure you'd be known to the guards as a thief and they'd arrest you.

I haven't tried hiding in the corner of a shop to wait for night time, the shopkeepers and their guards seem pretty vigilant. I can confirm that theft in general is still the easiest way to make ludicrous amounts of money though.

Its similar after 3 days they -forgot- your stealing and refresh inventory but..most prblem in KCD2 Trader are poor as hell in the First Area...not sure over Second Area and you need like in KCD 1 sneak and steal if not you make later missions incredible hard

But if you get caught you'll most likely have a really hefty fine and have all stolen items stripped away

That's good to know, thanks.

idk i steal things and they caught me with no reason. its kinda buged
Just save the game before doing such things and then play around, get caught or purpose even so you can see how it all works.

Cause you were last seen in that area maybe and the NPCs can randomly check their stash boxes to check for missing items.

Guards are all hypervigilant in this game. If they even suspect you stole something they'll try to search you.

It's not bugged. If you steal something or you're in an area you're not suppose to be they'll check their stash. If something if missing they'll accuse you. If you know you're going to be accused throw it on the ground out of sight and they'll let you go.

It's better to sneak around at night when people are sleeping.
if you want to go on a big heist you can enter the tunnel system below kuttenberg, it has connections to almost any and every single traders basement, and if you enter at night you can rob them blind without being seen. its actually quite easy to rack up wares worth several thousand groschen, the biggest issue is finding traders to sell that stuff to. you cannot sell that stuff in kuttenberg immediately, and most other places have only a few traders, that will take in only a tiny bit of your stock before running out of money, and traders don't get any money at all if you use their services very often. the best solution i have is, that you rob as many shops as you want to, then just leave through the front door of the shop, walk over to the inn in kuttenberg where you have a bed you own, and put everything in your sorage chest. then leave it there, and every once in a while take a hand full of items out and sell them. after a couple of weeks people will have forgotten about the stuff and you can even sell it back to the traders you stole it from. just don't get caught, or you can quickly end up with fees of several 10.000 groschen and more.
Stealing is pretty broken in this game, I actively had to prevent myself from stealing everything that wasn't nailed down. You can just go into a town/castle at night and go ham.

It can be a little bugged. I've had times where I snuck into a house at night and stole a bunch of stuff without ever being noticed, but in the morning I was wanted. I'm pretty sure the reason they were on to me is because of that one stupid tailor's shop in Kuttenburg, where you have to trespass to talk to the guy and shop there. I was detected in an unauthorized zone on the other side of town, so I was the primary suspect in the other house's burgled home.

There was also the swordmaster questline. In my game I stole the guild's sword like you're supposed to, but I also hit a couple other houses that night. I never got caught, was never even wanted, but when we transitioned to the tournament the announcer told me I was an evil villain and the tournament was canceled because of me. Basically, any crimes I committed between starting the quest and going to the tournament, other than getting the sword, automatically failed the quest for me, even if I was never caught.

There really should be guards patrolling indoors at night, and guard dogs too.
