"horizontal slice"

Right now, I'm training with some guy, and the 'horizontal slice' is 'up, right, left.' It's even described in the combos, but it doesn't work as described. The dude keeps saying, 'Wrong, again,' etc. Funny enough, he gives me a pass when I just do 'up and left' sometimes. It works almost randomly. I have no problem with the combat system, but the description and tutorial related to it are just trash.

The game doesn't tell you how to do it correctly.

attack up

Here is the tricky part...after attacking up your sword automatically moves to the left and you must move it to the right before clicking. Make sure to wait until the sword is visibly moved all the way to the right and not just the directional arrow turning red.

After attack from the right, your sword automatically moves to the left again. So at this point just click as fast as you can.

After you do it, they literally show a screen with this exact info. Before hand they just have Tomcat saying up right left...easy.
