Can someone explain to me how to properly win speech checks?

I have been playing for 13 hours or so and oh boy I have not win a single conversation. So far it's been like

you get the idea. Well my charisma is pretty low its 4 I think but still its impossible to talk to people. Is this how its supposed to be at the beginning of the game?

Your charisma is four - what the hell, did you carry a corpse or waded through ♥♥♥♥ and didn't wash your clothes? Check the dirt % on your clothes.

Well that's what I'm not getting first of all ofc I'm clean and secondly I'm at the beginning and don't have any fancy gear but I have these,
head:Bascinet with breteche, mail coif
body:gambeson long, hunters belt, saxon hauberk
arms: chainmail gauntlets, couters with rondel
legs: half plate legs, noble quilted trousers, simple shoes

Like I at least look like some sort of low ranked soldier, yet I don't feel like one. average item condition is around 50-80 a few items at 9-35 etc maybe I need a repair for people to start respecting me?

Oh wow I got so lucky from a quest of helping bathwench anna and she literally just fixed all my gears! But funny thing is it increased my charisma from 4 to only 5 xD
I still dunno why I'm so uncharismatic...

get better gear (clothes, trinkets) and check their Charisma stats before you buy them.

1. Yes, broken Stuff lowers your charisma, so repairs would be a good choice
2. Get the recipe for Fox Potion on the internet, Make Fox Potions (Henry Quality for extra XP)
3. Sell stuff, always haggle for extra speech XP, you can, as an example, just make marigold potions in the first town and sell to the apothecary and the trader.

Speech is basically the most annoying skill to level in the game, so since KCD1, i personally always choose Speech for my initial skills during the tutorial (Scholarship if speech is not available)

funnily I choose speech skills at tutorial because I wanted to be diplomatic yet I'm still ♥♥♥♥ at it xD

Armor can actually lower your charisma. Try equipping high charisma clothing only under a different set of clothes (clicking the shields under your character to switch sets), then you can switch to it before starting conversations.

Also, go to the tailor. He sells a ton of stuff that can boost charisma that you can put on and wear with armour.

There are several different types of speech check.
Not in a literal sense. But in a simple way, think Charisma as mainly the average charisma of all the outer garment or equipment.
So if you are wearing a very colorful, high charisma shirt but you are wearing an armor above it, then it will have no affect.

So you should have one outfit preset with your best gear for fight and one outfit preset that gives you the most charisma.

Once you get some money, go buy some cloths from the tailor and you will have high charisma.

Read books, read every type of book. Boosts your speech

You are probably a dirty vagabond that smells. Your charisma is too low to convince anyone of anything. Dress nicely, wash your clothes, put on a perfume, increase your skills, get some perks and things will be better.

Actually, this is one part of the game that is poorly balanced: adventure a lot and engage with the systems and your charisma will rise crazy and your reputation will be sky high, even in new places.

My charisma gear is 30. My combat gear is 28. My black dirty stealing gear is... 20...

And you run around with 4? :))

I want a mod that just shows the numbers, the skill checks are pretty absurd.
