Bunch of keys

Maybe someone has asked this before. Maybe I’m in the wrong place here. I’m not used to communities like this.
Anyway. I found an item called "Bunch of keys", and it’s placed in my inventory under "Usable". But where can I use them? No info on that. Is it by pure luck if I find a door or a chest that fits? Or should I know something that I’ve missed?

There is usually a chest or two around that you can unlock with those "generic" keys.
