My advice on doing combos without spamming click
You may have noticed that sometimes you attack for a combo but the next attack doesn't happen during training. It's as if Henry is suddenly stuck.
Or you are trying a combo but you can't do it multiple times in a row. So it feels more luck than skill for you.

If you are like me, you wanna do combos. You can press the attacks properly but the combo doesn't happen.
I had the same issue for several hours. I wanna share two observation. I will try to be as detailed as possible.

1st observation: This will help you time the attacks of a combo. When you learn a combo and you do the first attack of the combo, the game will actually show you when you have to do the next attack with direction with a flash of light red instead of the normal red bar.

As you know, we can see the red bar to know our position of our weapon.

Let's say, we have to do a combo of top - right - left.
When you do an attack from top, after a short interval, there will be 2nd red bar which is sort of light red that will show the 2nd attack of the combo on the right. Only then you move the mouse to the right and attack, then after a short interval, it will show light red from left for the 3rd attack and you can naturally click on mouse because the weapon will auto go from right to left.

You should notice 2nd red bar which is light red that will flash to show the timing and direction of the next attack in a combo. Here is a fun part. If you have learned multiple combos that start with the same first attack, then there will be multiple light red bar in different direction to show the direction and timing and you can proceed with whichever direction you want to properly do the combo. This will work for unarmed combo too.

2nd observation: I am not 100% sure about this. But I still wanted to share.

This will help you understand why you are failing to do combos even in practice even though the trainer is not attacking be it Tomcat or Gnarly.
This is because of perfect block. As you can tell, perfect block or dodge or master strike stops you from doing combos. Since you are in practice, you don't have to worry about master strike.
You can easily recognize a dodge. The problem is perfect block.
In first game, when you or an enemy did a perfect block, there would be a slow mo. But that slow mo is not in this game.
So even in practice, the trainer will perfect block your attack but don't attack since they are defending.
That's why in practice, sometimes I feel like the trainer was going to attack but didn't. It's like they abruptly stop.

That's why you can't do the next attack of combo because the trainer stopped it. That's why there won't be a light red to show the next attack of the combo.

Edit: I made a guide on this topic of Combo. So I would appreciate it a lot if you guys would give it a read if you are interested.

Thanks!

Warhorse Studios still needs to
- explain that clearly
and, more importantly, they also need to
- filter the mouse properly
- allow for several DPI
- above all, show a visual reference of the current direction given by the mouse so far, which we don't have in comparison to a console controller. If there's no visual or physical reference, it's impossible to know where the game thinks we're moving.

They've been ignoring all those problems since KCD.
