Why not on gog?
Hello there,

Will it come to gog? The first one was so I don't see a reason why I can't find the sequel there.
Thanks

might be because gog games are easier to pirate with the offline installer or because more people use steam so

there is no anti pirating software wich has ever stopped people from pirating the software

I don't know. Maybe a publisher thing. They only released the first one on GoG after the first few weeks of launch. I mean I can also buy it on GoG as well when on sale. It's nice to have a back up copy and it helps support the studio.

It has to be on GOG - otherwise they'll miss sales. (e.g. mine :steammocking: ).

KCD 1 was not on GOG from the beginning, but only after some time due to possible piracy. If you want the GOG version, you'll have to wait some time after the release.

eh fine, they'll need some time to iron out the bugs anyway

I think eventually it will be on GOG, but likely later - I'm guessing this is a publishing decision etc. Assuming this is as a good a game was KCD 1 was then I'll purchase it again once all the DLC are out etc and it's on GOG just to support them and to have a DRM free version.

There's some lobbying to avoid GOG, it's the only place where you can do whatever you want with your setup folder without efforts.
It'll be on GOG eventually, but later. More people need to go buy there to increase competition against Steam and incitate Steam to change its policy to be more player-friendly.

The first game is on GOG. It'll end up there eventually, this I'm sure of.

almost all pirated versions of pretty much every game are based on the steam releases. it is very very rarely to encounter a gog based one (i can not recall ever seing one)

but sadly if you buy gog now you finance ♥♥♥♥ like witcher4

i have bought a lot on gog but i can not in a good conscious keep doing so.

Why do people go on Steam forums and ask about GOG? You use Steam, you have an account, buy from Steam.

Is there something I'm missing; like localization issues?

Steam is only a fallback for games which never are released on GOG. Games on GOG are really owned by the customer, thus it is a preference of some (including me). Only coming here because (sadly) more people participate on steam discussion boards. Same is true for developers (if they even use Steam and not hide in their Discord nowadays... :steambored:)

Digital or 'physical' ownership, yeah, I get it. I haven't bought a an actual physical game since the mid-2000s. Steam has just been so much more convenient, I suppose. Then again, all it takes is a Steam ban and a user could lose access to $1000s worth of games. So, again, I get it.

They can ban you from "buying" games, they cannot ban you from accessing and playing your "purchased" games.

Actalo, even if Steam forums are crap in their design, they're more active, so they're still a good place for social interaction about gaming.

My games on Steam come from Humble choice for 90%, the rest is gifted to me. I might have bought 10 games here, because I don't subscribe to their customer policy.
