There are more of the potions available at the beginning of the game (when you need it most). You can brew and find stronger save potions which give you multiple saves. There are also more checkpoints throughout
Saving system is great.
Time to fully embrace alchemy.
The actual philosophy of the system is great.
The save system is fine once you've figured out the game. Belladonna is a dime a dozen, you can optimize the recipe for brewing a lot*, and with 5 Alchemy skill it's three potions a pop. You can save in bath houses, for free with the right perk, and will likely have a permanent bed in taverns where it matters sooner rather than later.
While you're still clueless about all that and tend to die left and right, it's a very frustrating system. So it's good they have improved that part. Not sure if stronger potions are really needed.
Nowadays I got a kid, very limited on time so not having full access to saving whenever I can is just ugh
