Blunt Weapons the way to go?
I'm only about 20 hours in so far.

I've only recently gotten to the point where I can win most battles against multiple bandits.

Two things made the difference for me.

1. Getting a proper set of armor.
2. Switching from a sword to a hammer.

I found attacking an enemy in plate with a sword at lower levels was almost completely useless. Switching to a hammer makes much shorter work of them.

Likewise, I find lighter armored enemies go down just as easy.

To me, it seems blunt damage is superior. Does this change later in the game?

Blunt weapons are the best overall weapons, their downside is they are slower and tend to be heavier

Blunt will always be the best against armored opponents.

Swords have master strikes and cause bleeding. So preferable against rubble. Faster kills.

My warfare is 26 and swords 30. My longsword can make short work of any enemy and having master strike makes it SO EASY To be defensive when like 5vs1 or more.

I also started using a mace currently mace, currently my heavy weapons are lvl 10 only but i find it really difficult to take stuff down with it next to the longsword. Sure it is low level but my str, agi, warfare are all over 21

I use a one handed sword, no armor... You can counter/master strike everything. You're able to win without getting hit most times
Pick the middle ground: axes.

As alot of people have said. Blunt is better for armor penetration. Swords are better for speed and less armored enemies. But also for dueling. Since you can master strike with them. Which is extremly strong if you learn to do it most of the time. So i think Swords, espacially long swords win out by the end.

Unarmed is king
I've stacked all the one-handed no-shield perks and am tearing everyone up with a broadsword. I don't know that there's any one best approach.

Hmm i think both swords are op.
swords are the best by far because they're the only weapon type that can perform master strikes. Master strikes pretty much trivialize every 1v1 fight in the game, and eventually you have sword and longsword options that don't really get stopped by plate armor much, especially versus open faced helmets where there are sword combos that specifically target the face.

Early game 1h swords are the best because of large bonuses to warfare and swords you can get from perks and longswords are eventually a bit better by just being statistically superior with the stronger weapon options available.

Heavy weapons and polearms are a lot slower, have fewer attack angles (polearms can't overhead and heavy weapons can't stab) and don't really do more damage than swords to begin with.

Glad to see other combat types are viable. Ultimately I'm hoping to max out both swords and heavy.

henry said that guns have no future, but eqipping 4 of them and switching them during battle is the way to go! :D
