is is looting considered stealing
I know in real life looting is considered stealing but in KCD2 is looting considered stealing. Looking to try to play without trying to steal anything.

Sort of? If you loot a innocent NPC like a noble or a villager that is stealing. It will say rob on their corpse instead of loot. If you kill a bandit or someone who attacked you like cumans, bandits, evil villagers then you can loot them.

Basically you are "robbing the dead", don't worry though stolen items become not stolen over time and you can take stolen goods from one area of the map to another to sell them sometimes.(there is a perk you can get later that tells you if they will recognize it or not. Also the worth of the item determines the length for it to not be considered stolen anymore, just don't wear it tho.)

No, if you don't have to hold E to open the inventory then it doesn't count as stealing. It will say 'Rob' instead of 'Loot' if you aren't allowed to take stuff of the corpse.

If you rob someone or steal, you can put it in your chest until the stolen status disappears

there is a perk though that makes it go away faster on items in your inventory.

It counts as a crime in the statistics but it's not an actual crime you get punished for, and items aren't considered stolen

I guess that is depend on how it's look at, if you see someone already dead, and you loot it, as long as no name on it, it's not stealing, unless you kill that person and steal that stuff, I guess it's stealing, but if person already dead, and you didn't kill, and all item on him don't had any will or names on it, then it's not stealing, it's just depend on situation, if you are poor, that would be understandable, or you looking for proof to that crime happen, that would be understand, it's would not normal stealing, as long as you don't seek to kill or cause that person to die to take a loots, that is.

Dead had no need of item, but should be bury ground when one afford to. But I wouldn't wear cloth from dead, that is gross, depend on how long dead had been there.

First game sort of made you know that looting is disgusting and shunned in medieval society so there's a RP reason to avoid it

yeah my henry does literal grave robing. so if a bandit attacks me his stuff is mine.
he can give it to me or i take it from his dead body! it is his choice and the only choice i give him after he is trying to rob me.

Yea, I played just how I played in skyrim but before I even did much I already had half a set of plate armor and a really good sword that I found on a bandit. So I'm just not going to steal or rob anyone and only loot money off of them. Until hardcore mod comes out.
