Blacksmith vs Miller?
Are you locked into one path or can you do both up to a certain point?

You can do both, they don't lock eachother out. I helped them both but went with the smith cause the miller is a fkin loon.

As i know, you can complete both paths, but right before wedding you choose, which one you follow. Its the moment, when you sugested to dress properly
You can do them both up until you are set to go to the wedding. Just avoid telling them you are ready for the wedding until you have gotten both up to that point. Both also have slightly different wedding events from my understanding (I've only done miller wedding event but saw footage of blacksmith wedding event).

you can do both.

Their quests have more subquests, so you can do both when you don't complete their final quest ( the weding )

Both give you place to stay, food and tutorial on smithing and weapon maintence or sneaking / thievery

Also upon completing the millers final quest you get Lead Shot Gunpowder Recipe

I was going to do the Miller quest-line in the game, but (Spoilers) the man is crazy and wanted me to look for a certain ingredient that comes from dead bodies, the only way to know if it's the right thing is to taste it, so in a way that would be cannibalism. Also he was doing some weird witchcraft and wanted me to make some golem to work for him.

I killed him and unfortunately the wife noticed and she had to go too, but I later justified her death because she likely knew what her husband was up to since he seemed open about it. Bunch of weirdos.

Do you plan on doing a second playthrough sometime? Miller is worth doing. Spoilers: Hes not telling you the truth or his real plan at all. He is just saying nonsense to avoid telling you what hes really making Black Powder and Weapons

Does it lock you out of the millers quest after the wedding though?

I may come back to the game after a couple of years after I'm done playing the game for the first time and choose different options. I usually don't replay a game soon after I'm done with it, especially if I spend 200-300 hours in it. Lol.

To be fair the Salt petre in the mission gave that away.

tbh I thought it was kind of obvious when the sack you were carrying broke.Looked like a bunch of old lead ball ammo to me.

Yeah I assume those metal balls in the sacks were ammo for the new guns. That would really suck if I ruined the only way to get those. Lol. No spoilers please.

Any hints on what the "better" wedding is between miller and blacksmith?

But, really, any hints on what the "better" wedding is between miller and blacksmith?

Well actually ... You are not tasting the corpses, only the white crystals that form in the carcas pits...
