My Thoughts on the KCD2 Gay Protagonist News
As someone who's been a fan of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series since its early days, I’ve been looking forward to the sequel for years. The first game felt like a breath of fresh air, with its focus on historical accuracy, deep storytelling, and immersive gameplay. However, I recently learned about the creative direction for the KCD2 protagonist, and I have to say—it’s not something I feel aligns with my expectations or preferences for the series.

I want to be clear: I have no issue with diverse characters or stories being told in games. Representation is important, and I know many players will appreciate this choice. That said, Kingdom Come: Deliverance stood out to me as a grounded historical RPG that avoided the modern trends of other studios, which is part of why I admired it so much. The decision to make the main character gay feels like a departure from what I personally loved about the series.

What’s been most disappointing for me, though, is how this change wasn’t communicated transparently before launch. As fans, we’ve supported this studio for years, and it feels like we should have been part of the conversation rather than discovering this so close to release. Transparency matters, and this could have been handled in a way that respected both the studio's vision and the players’ expectations.

I also think it would be fair to include an option in the game for players who may not want to engage with certain themes, such as the protagonist’s sexuality. This could be implemented as a toggle or alternative dialogue/relationship path to allow all players to enjoy the game in a way that aligns with their personal preferences, without compromising the studio’s creative vision for those who appreciate the current direction.

I understand that not everyone will feel the same way, and that’s okay. My intention isn’t to disrespect anyone but to share my personal feelings as a fan. At the end of the day, we all engage with games differently, and I hope we can have an open and respectful discussion about this.

Thanks for reading,

Fair enough, i think they didn't believed it to be that significant y'know. During the showcases, i was personally more interested in how the first game's mechanics were implemented and improved in this one

Henry's gay now, deal with it chud.
Have you read the post with your eyes closed or someshit like that?
Yeap.
If it was other characters here and there, like the first game, then whatever.
This isnt the case.
Henry wasnt gay, he wasnt even 1/10000000000000 gay.
But wokeness struck, DEI money spoke and we are where we are.

I understand that diversity in games is a topic many people feel strongly about, and I respect that some players will appreciate the inclusion of different perspectives. However, not every player wants to engage with certain themes in a game, and I think the best way to respect everyone’s preferences is to provide options.

If diversity is truly about inclusion, then there should also be an option in the settings for players who prefer not to see certain content, such as the gay relationship paths. This way, everyone can enjoy the game in a way that aligns with their own preferences, without taking away from those who want the full experience.

You want them to add a "gaymaxxing" option?
No, i just don't see the problem with an optional gay romance. Besides, chill, the whole game won't be gay, there's plenty of gameplay available that proves it
Oh no, you're going to get eaten alive in these forums with that country on your profile.
The main character is gay, honestly?
If that's the case, the game is over for me!
I decide what I like and no developer can make the decision for me or dictate it.
Let the players decide for themselves what they want and build in a switch so that everyone gets what they want.
For me it's easy to do without the game, the only question is, can Warhorse afford it if lots of people think like that?
Thanks for the tip.

Yes, They will be fine. They still have millions of fans who paid for the game already. The VERY small % of people will not effect the studio.

It’s not just about including different perspectives. As a gay man, I simply enjoy playing a bi or gay character, just as much as you enjoy playing a straight one – and I enjoy playing straight characters too! I really liked Bayek and Aya’s story. The question is, why can’t you enjoy a bit of gay romance?
This feels like an almost intentionally obtuse take. No one actually designing the game has said Henry is gay now. According to the studio, it sounds like they've given the *option* to pursue romance with men as Henry, nothing more. As a side note, as someone who studied Medieval European History, let me say that the idea that queer people didn't exist in earlier time periods is frankly laughable. Sure, often they had to exist in life and relationships more clandestinely, but they existed nonetheless. Same sex relationships and people living as the opposite gender they were given at birth were likely as common as they are today. The idea of early Western countries as homogenous white, straight, cisgender populations is absolutely untrue, and is basically just modern propaganda used by people who hate people who act and look differently from themselves, and have invented an imaginary "good old days" that they're more comfortable with.
Wait i thought this was fake news is that true that they made Henry gay in the sequel?

They most definitely did which is why they tried to ignore the leaks until they were forced to respond.
Yeah i don't want to have any option to be gay. I just want to stab men with sword and not with my p p.
