When did one character's sexuality suddenly become an issue?
I've been gaming since my parents bought me the NES, probably longer than half the people posting in this forum and I've never seen anything like whats happening in response to gay character existing in a game before.

I totally agree MANY western developers are pushing ideology especially with "consulting firms" into games recently - but there is a difference between simply having characters exist in the universe vs pushing an ideology into a game (a character existing is not an ideology say like Chloe in Life Is Strange, telling the player how to think or act is an ideology, like in Dragon Age Veilguard)

So the reactions to KCD2 having gay characters revealed has really surprised me, not just on steam but in various youtube reactions, commentaries, etc etc.

So when did a gay NPC become such a big issue? Nobody seemed to mind with Skyrim, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Assassins Creed, Cyberpunk, Witcher, Dragon Age Trilogy, Mass Effect trilogy, etc - nobody cared.

Again KCD1 had a gay character - nobody cared.

Suddenly everyone seems to care about ONE confirmed character in the sequel and people REALLY seem to care and be angry about it. Why now?

I totally agree developers recently aren't just writing gay characters but pushing agenda's especially with "consulting firms" - but there is a difference between simply having characters exist in the universe vs pushing an ideology into a game. (basically a character existing is not an ideology, telling the player how to think or act or what to believe is an ideology)

However the reactions to KCD2 having gay characters revealed in the last week has seemed to really make the "gaming community" lose its mind not just on steam but in various youtube reactions, commentaries, etc etc.

I'm sorry but when did a gay NPC become such a big issue for you all? None of you seemed to mind with Skyrim, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Assassins Creed, Cyberpunk, Witcher, Dragon Age 1, 2 or 3, Mass Effect original trilogy - nobody cared.

Again KCD1 had a gay character - nobody cared.

when the devs decided a straight character that laughed at sodomites should become a sodomite themselves.
I still have a theory that the forum is infested with trolls. They came here to spread hate, deeming the game as "estremely woke", so they can influence other users and then influence the game sales negatively

What gamers are you talking about?

It's trolls who "lose it". They did not buy the game nor ever planned to, but they just wanna hate.
Gamers bought the game and are patiently waiting for it to be released.

One gay NPC who most people could easily miss and forget about is WAAAAY different than the protagonist/playable MC being gay. And the gay NPC from the first game was bad then, just as it's bad now. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Also there was pushback about gays in the games you mentioned, but there just wasn't as much pushback because none of them were trying to be historically accurate, and in many cases could just be ignored entirely as if gays did not exist. This is not the case here.

Sorry but have to correct you. You can choose to play him bi. Not gay.

I am writing this to you.
A poster before you has some wishful thinking about gay Henry, but you know the drill, this is a proper answer for those:

Because Henry wasn't gay or in the first game, that's when, anything else?

Henry can't be gay in the second game either.
But can be... what if not gay.
Yeah but i want to make Henry a trans furry and make love to my horse. I mean, lets be historically accurate here, people committed bestiality in the midieval era, it was just hush hush, but I should have the choice to do it! Anything else is just plain bigoted

"Why does altering a character to appeal to modern day politics in a game set far in the past matter, bigot?"
I wasn't talking about Henry or the choices players make - so basically this is people getting angry about how other people play characters? Really? Who cares what other people do or how they play games.

Again same question than, nobody seems to care in other games how people play their characters - be it Skyrim, Mass Effect trilogy etc. I'm not calling or accusing anybody of anything - im simply confused why you care how other people play their characters now too?

Like whats the line here? If you play as a thief and I believe stealing is a mortal sin, does that mean I shouldn't play this game too? Again choices are yours to make, they aren't being forced on you - if they were than yes that would be modern politics nobody is forcing you to do anything or telling you how to play...so again, why care what other people do?
They made the man character, a dude who 100% only looked at woman in the first game, become gay.
They are on marvel level of, lets pretend this character wasnt like that and suddenly is like this.
Dont try to gaslight anyone OP lols.
If tomorrow the next witcher game made Geralt gay, which I dont doubt these days, you can bet people would be pissed too.
Game is woke, let.it.burn.
