That was then, now is now. The majority culture is not tolerant of deviancy anymore, so media should reflect that. Its not what most people want to see in media ever again.
I won't buy anything with any homosexual content in the game. Journos may be lying, but what about Vavra, he too admitted the game has a homosexual scene in it.
We know it seems trivial but there is a bigger context so we dont care.
There is a huge culture war going on and in the light of recent years of games pandering to the woke enemy it is not tolerated anymore.
The whole woke ideological package is civilisation destroying stuff and we are finally fighting back. SO, as I said, we know and we dont care. Bigger things are at stake. Children/teens form their outlook of the world through, among other things, games.
That's not being hypocritical at all and your example is way off the mark (Grindr is a social dating app, not a single player video game. Do better next time). The goal of a boycott is to not financially support something. By pirating it, the goal is achieved. Not sure which part of this you aren't grasping.
