Other than PC Gamer baiting clicks with the 'diversity' headline there's not really been much of that so far for KCD2. I'd be surprised if they openly go to war with another game that the players will likely rate highly. They'll probably just minimise the amount they talk about this whilst simultaneously gassing up Shadows.
If culture war is going to massively boost KCD2's sales I think it'll have to catch the interest of somebody with more reach than Grummz. Maybe Elon Musk will get into it, although I bet he'll be more into POE2.
All that being said I don't think this game will need all of that nonsense to sell well. The first one sold 8 million (granted a lot were on deep sale) and the second game seems to be a much more polished version of that.
It would be cool if they manage to outclass AC Shadows in sales though. This could be their 'Witcher 3' moment.
Yes. When people want to throw all their efforts into DEI, there's nothing left to enjoy.
There are games with likely DEI influences that are still good games. It's less the presence of DEI and more how they're doing it. (I find that the hard core DEI extremists denounce such games because they don't go far enough for them, and they'll often praise bad games just for the DEI focus as if that one thing is supposed to entertain everyone.)
If KCD tried to go all DEI as certain groups would like all games to be, WH would have to spend all their time trying to make it fit in the setting they're targeting. The story, gameplay, and general development would end up suffering for it.
^ This exactly. At the end of the day a good game is a good game but DEI doesn't make a game better it often makes it worse so if you're going to do it you better make damn well sure the game is great if your going to put DEI in it and hope to be successful.
Bottom line is the fans have spoken and they don't want it in their games. Why would a developer who wants their game to be successful divide their fan base? That would be dumb.
Hm yeah, DA Veilguard 2.0.
Why??? Does it have to do with it being based on realism?
Imo the combat is pretty good in KCD1 and KCD2 has improved on it
I hope they keeping creating new DLCS and keeping people working on the game, that's the must important for me. I'm tired about abandoned games.
KCD2 would definetly sell better than KCD1 but Avoved and AC Shadows have completely different target audiences, so there no any correlation in sales between them
in terms of basic number of sales... Avoved is gamepass day 1 and AC Shadows targeted to mass-audience, so there no chance for KCD2 targeted to niche-audience.
