Anyone agree the terrain looks too flat in the trailer for KCD 2?
Well, the game is not set in the alps. Maybe we get some austrian locations though..

One of the main things which I though was so amazing about Kingdom Come 1 was the height differences in the terrain and landscapes and how the game world looked and felt real because of it, nothing was unrealistic flat like most other game worlds are. There was valleys and terrain height differences everywhere, fields would have slopes to one side, castles where build higher up, almost every dirt road would be going up or down. It was simply the best world I have ever seen in a game.

In the trailer for Kingdom Come 2 the terrain looks much more flat, less height differences and less valleys. I really hope I'm wrong and the game has the same height differences in the terrain but from the trailer it looked like the terrain was much more flat which would be a shame IMO, because the realistic terrain was one of the main selling points of the first game to me. Especially the realistic height differences in the landscapes. I get this new game is set in a new location and maybe its realistic to be more flat but it would be a really missed opportunity if the world is more flat this time.

Not every country is hill and valleys.

The first game's trailer didn't really show off the landscape either.
Also, the first game had many flat areas as well, like the ones we see in the 2nd's trailer.
So I don't think we can guess much from the trailer, it def doesn't look flatter to me than KCD 1.

If anything I think the wilderness, and out-of-town areas were the main focuses when it comes to upgrading from KCD to KCD2. Mainly because in KCD 2 you're explicitly said to be an adventurer. So I think we'll get reasonable verticality, and and ever more beautiful landscapes and nature than in the first KCD.

I dont need mountains lol, but those valleys from the first game where amazing. Thats why I loved it so much, the realistic terrain heights.
I'm sure there will be plenty of nice terrain! Czech Rep and the area close to Austria is not completely flat!

I can recall from an interview about the first game that Warhorse did make the area around Uzhitz more hilly than it is in reality, purely to make that part of the map stand out more from the rest of the map. And I'd say that absolutely worked, leading to memorable moments such as arriving late on a rainy day on the hillside streets of Uzhitz for the first time, and later on, feeling like you are seaching for a needle in a haystack in the hilly countryside while on the clock in that Waldesian quest. Even though it wasn't even that far away from Rattay, it did feel like you were out of your usual locale (or maybe that was because I insisted on making it home to Rattay every night, and two at maximum while playing through KCD), and thus, caused a nice feeling change in scenery while doing quests there. So I wouldn't worry about Warhorse forgetting to put in some nice verticality, hills and mountains into KCD2, when they know it was a great part of their worldbuilding in the first game.

Terrain always looks the same in closeup, from the gutter....

Can't tell, the trailer is too short, but I can see some cliffs/mountain.

I just watched this Warhorse conference/interview thing!

So it's basically two maps!! One is a region called "Hrubá Skála" -->> bohemian "paradise". Please look that up and marvel upon that rocky mountainrange.
The other region will be around Kuttenberg/Kutná Hora as we already know.

So yeah. Landscape wise there'll be lots of variety!
