Whats so hard to understand? Reel in to catch, stop reeling in when it pulls out the line, then reel in again. Bang, you caught a fishy! Of course some players want it even easier, sigh, "hold my hand please".
Maybe I should make a Fishing Guide to help others learn how to fish. But after catching 100+ fish I only wish there was a Fish Stew cooking option with a big cast iron pot we could leave over the fire and eat directly from with a coffee cup.
1: Bushes, those green bushes, hit them with something sharp like a knife or axe's.
Its a low drop rate but after cutting down a bunch of those bushes collect 10 bait. It shouldn't take you very long to collect 10 bait.
2a: then grab a fishing rod and your bait and go to the shore or an inland pond.
Then start fishing. You'll turn ALL Perch you catch into bait via the basic crafting menu. And cook up Salmon and Pike for food.
... or ...
2b: Arm a Fish Trap with 1 peace of Bait. Do NOT save and reload when you have Bait in a Animal Trap or Fishing Trap, it can make the Bait despawn ( a bug i think ).
You only catch Perch in a Fish Trap ( if that has not changed, I have not used Fish Traps in a long while ). You do NOT cook Perch, you craft them into Bait.
edit: forgot to say Good luck
Jesus why didnt this game actually tell us this ♥♥♥♥? So far the tutorial has been less than usefull and you have made it easier.
had not that much time to play until this weekend...
-thank you for this, now i know how to get bait...
-for example,i was digging around, maybe i could get some from earth like worms...but nothing
-never got one from bushes, but i did cut only maybe two... now i know at least there is a drop chance:)
In a situation where you have to go further and further to get water and food, it is essential to fish regularly.
Every bait counts in that situation, especially when winter comes.
Devs please increase bait drop rate or make shovelling for worms/bait a thing.
Hit bushes and you'll get fibers, sticks, and bait.
Edit: not that surprised in this world
