Terraworm: A case-study of bad game design

I have already beaten this boss on Hard so do not even try to reply with "you say it's bad because you are not good enough".

In this fight skill does not matter at all. Only luck.

The terraworm will detect you if you walk on sand. Ok, figured it out pretty fast, you can see how it tracks you while it jumps, if you move on the sand, it has "auto aim" on your character when it moves, it's programmed like so. The solution is jumping all the time instead of walking. Or it should be.

Its attack can be dodged, but only if its attack sequence is in the "closing" phase, so when its head / mouth thing closes and becomes thinner, there is enough room to dodge with a sideway jump. Otherwise you won't be able to dodge, you can use KF syringe or not, doesn't matter.

This is why I say this fight is based on luck. Sometimes, without any reason i could determine, the Terraworm will have a longer animation of opening / closing the mouth, If this happens you will 99% die, because there is not enough room to dodge, unless RNGesus blesses you.

Now some will say: just fill yourself with lungs. Lungs deteriorate, and by the time you go around the whole f***ing desert fetching 5/5 equippable lungs (Terraworm instakills you anyway no matter what build... so might aswell put 5 lungs) the first lungs you acquired are already pretty much rotten - because tying lung decay to a toggleable sprint instead than normal walking was too high IQ move apparently.

So yeah, how did i beat the terraworm? Just died a million times until RNGesus blessed me. Thats about it. God tier game design.

Yeah, the guy has to have maximum angle at which it can turn or turn only when being shot at.

After looking at some guides I managed to beat it. It tracks only when you're touching the ground and if you hop at the border of the arena it will most likely not kill you.

i dont think you get this fight im not gonna lie the whole point was that you where ment too stand on the debris so it couldnt detect you not jump around on the sand the game told you too do that before hand

Is just standing on metal pieces from satelite rest, it's not that hard.

Maybe you are just bad at the game cuz I beat it on like the 5th try. It's not hard, just stick to the walls and jump constantly and shoot the mouth. Takes a while, but it's not luck based. You're just bad lmao

i beat it on my third try once i figured out it can't track you on the satellite debris.
it's really easy if you have some lungs.
no luck involved.

Yeah you're not to jump around the arena but even when you stand on debris the worm can sometimes have some aimbot. It is a bit too annoying and could have used some more work.

Since I've just beaten it I can say it:

skill issue.

but the worm did track me on the satellite debris don't know what these commenters are on about
