Kinix: A New Journey

Hello everyone, It's been a while since the last update of Spirit Overflow. Today, I want to share with you our new plan and what we have been working on for the last few months.

First, thank you all for your support for Spirit Overflow, and keep providing us with valuable feedback. We are moving on to our next project, which is an evolution of Spirit Overflow. We want to build a platform that integrates all kinds of smart fitness equipment and turns them into game controllers to play a variety of active games, we call this platform "Kinix".

Our first step in building this platform is to create a unique online multiplayer cycling game. It's a fun, fast-paced mini-game collection. 4 players will compete against each other in a series of mini-games. Each game has its unique gameplay and theme. This game was designed based on the feedback from Spirit Overflow players and we really hope you will enjoy this new iteration.

In Kinix you can also customize your character and purchase in-game cosmetics.

After launch, we will constantly update the game with more minigames, skins, and in-game events. Eventually we want to build a cycling metaverse that has an open world and lots of mini games

We will later launch the new game on our own Kinix launcher. After the new game is launched, Spirit Overflow will be withdrawn from Steam permanently. Thank you for all the support and love.

Hi everyone, update 1.05 is out now!

Change notes:

Added a new statistic page after the battle, you can now see other players' performance as well as the cycling data.
Added our partner, Garmin's logo inside our arena.
You can now join a lobby as a spectator when the match is ongoing.
Players who use a bike as the controller will have a special icon beside their ID during the match.
Fixed multiple territory-related bugs, increased overall stability.
Fixed the bug that some friends will not be shown on the invite list.
Fixed multiple display bugs
Fixed the bug that some special lobby name will cause the failure of loading the match.

The New Era Update - Out Now!

Hello, Spirit Overflow riders! Winter is here and we are happy to announce that The New Era Update has just launched and is ready to play!

Over the past 2 months, we have been listening to the feedback from our community and iterating the game. This update is the biggest one for Spirit Overflow so far that contains 4 major features: Keyboard support, Custom lobby, Spectator mode, AI improvements and we are thrilled to release it today.

Yes, we are supporting keyboard!

We know it's a bit weird to open the keyboard option for a game designed for indoor cycling, but if you think about it, it's even weirder not to support keyboard for a game on Steam.

We've been developing the game for indoor cycling, so we naturally thought this game is only for cyclists who already have their cycling setup at home. However, we are surprised that many PC players tried to play the game. Some were trying to play by keyboard, some were asking us what is the cheapest trainer so they can buy one and play, but for most of them, having to have a bike trainer set up at home is such a huge barrier that they just walked away despite the interest. It's a pity that they couldn't play it.

Additionally, Spirit Overflow's core concept is a cross-over between sports and games, it does not make sense if we exclude most gamers but only accept cyclists as other traditional cycling platform does. We are excited to see the concept of gamers vs cyclists in the same game.

So here we are, we open the keyboard as an option to play the game.

But of course, as you can imagine, the biggest challenge will be the game balance. We don't want either of the keyboard players and Bike players to be too strong against the other, and the balancing will be a long-term effort. Right now, bike players will have a special icon beside their name, we will also implement functions that players can choose whether to play with players that use a different type of controller.

Custom lobby & Spectator mode

We changed our find match method from matchmaking to game lobby. Now, any players on a server who created a lobby will be shown on the lobby list, and other players are free to join the game lobbies. We changed to this because it can help players to find human matches more easily.

Inside the lobby, you can swap teams, invite friends, add bots and change some of the game parameters, such as speed and time duration, play the way you like, experiment with fun game rules that you enjoy the best!

You can also choose to spectate the game, when you are in spectator mode, you can see each player's close camera or watch the overhead view of the map.

Improved AI

We have worked on the bots to make them more challenging. Now you can add bots to the slots in the lobby and you can choose bots from 3 difficulty levels. They have different base speeds, turning sensitivity, attack probability, etc. We hope you can have fun experimenting with different bots and lobby parameters.
