Pink squares/checkered boxes everywhere

I can't seem to find an exact solution to this, but it has something to do with missing files I have to bring from my HL2 folder in to my synergy one? I'm just not sure exactly what I have to put where in order to fix this:(

It is missing textures, you need your 'materials' folder (or the missing files from it)

So what do I put in the materials folder? (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Synergy\synergy\materials)

Well, the files that are missing I guess :)

What I would do is 'merge' (copy) the 'materials' folder from hl2 to your synergy 'materials' folder. If it asks about replacing files tell it to keep originals so it doesn't overwrite any existing files.

Have you recently updated your hl2 (&ep1, ep2)? All the hl2 files should be available to Synergy if all (hl2, ep1, ep2 & Synergy) are updated.

Might recommend reinstalling HL2 & Synergy.
Sounds like your install may be messed up.

hmm they should be up to date, I have them all installed. My HL2 folder doesn't actually have a materials folder though :O just media, models, resource etc

What maps is this happening on, all of them, or custom maps?
With steampipe Synergy now relies on the gameinfo.txt file to include the hl2 content from the vpk files. May want to check your gameinfo.txt file and/or rename it and verify synergy files to grab a new copy.

Hmm I'll take a look and see, but I'm not too good with coding and such. It was happening right from the very beginning on the train (campaign) of half life 2. Also all windows/glass seem to have the black and pink boxes too.

Oh, am I supposed to have a folder in my steamApps/sourcemods folder for Synergy? (because I don't)

I actually remember it doing this before on my old PC, I remember every glass texture/window had the checker squares instead of transparent glass!

Lets see verify hl2/synergy.
Then make sure hl2 is mounted in the games list on the synergy start screen.

The glass has always been pink/black on hosts who host through the main game instead of the non-dedicated stuffs.
Make sure you've run HL2 and it's episodes recently. You might not have updated them to the Steampipe system.

HL2 needs to be Steampiped. Also, do you have GCFScape?
