Respawning Automated Defender
Automated Defender (weak space station) that gets respawned to prevent you from landing on a planet should be made to not drop resources.
Otherwise you can cheese the game to get as many rare materials as you want.

You could also consider adding a dialogue pop-up that tells you that they ran out of replacements after 10 or so kills.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll think about scaling back its drops. (This is new opt-in beta content)

Since you've noticed this topic, I'll also mention, that 32:9 ultrawide works fine, except for missing 'speed' particle effects, they are only spawned in 16:9 window (zoomed out view). Perhaps you could fix that, other than this I haven't noticed any issues with ultrawide.

Definitely agree but lore-wise it at least makes sense, per Lt Martina Kepler's observation. "When we blow one up, we have to fight another one." I don't necessarily think its a bad thing and lets you focus more on story and less on resource collection but perhaps there should be some sort of diminishing returns as it trivializes other sources. Especially if Wiskamug ends up joining in the festivities. :cozypoesad: :cozyspaceengineersc:

It should probably just drop Aluminum. Since the station is so fragile it makes sense that it might only drop Aluminum, and having an alternative to farming asteroids is nice. Right now it drops Gold, Platinum, and Neutronium among other things, and that's... a bit too generous for how easily you can kill it.
why not increas the respawn time?
like adding a second each time you destroy it.
you can't land on the planet unless you follow the mission, preventing you from destroying the station. and with each destruction you need to wait longer, making the "farming" less atractive.

oh and as someone mentioned Wiskamug "helping hand". it would be nice if the mission works as a "deterent" and makes Wiskamug not appear in the system as long as the mission isn't completed. he helps "farming" but isn't a help to resolve the mission...

That's a good point. While it's hilarious when he helps you kill the station, it could be a detriment if you actually want to do it the right way and Wiskamug is just blasting the thing to smithereens. :D
So I've not a clue as to how to actually get around this...

I did lure them out of the planet's space so I could properly send down my teams... but I gained nothing from it.

Help puh-lease?

just destroy its weapons, then you can.........
I'm just (as others have said) currently cheesing the game, getting about four metal types from each one destroyed.

I can't deduce how to stop them from continuously spawning one after another. Oh, the game did suggest something about not destroying them, just stunning them... but I've no idea how to do that with my ship.
When I do land there's no option or means to destroy the high altitude flak... kind of frustrating bc I have no clue :-)

You have to destroy the station's weapons instead of blowing it up completely, so you can board it. Don't use autofire for this one... it won't end well.

Also to add to the topic, the destroyed stations still drop resources. You could basically idle farm that spot.... I may have farmed some of that stuff. Maybe.

All righty! Now I shall see what I can see! Thanks much.

Yes, the farming works well there :-)
Thanks much - nailed it using plasma guns :-)

You CAN idle farm him, but you need to pay at least a little bit of attention because it can respawn inside your ship and instantly kill you. So check in every 30 minutes and save your game. :P
Wiskamug spawned next to the station and is just going mad right now destroying it, this is awesome!
