SunnySide
Do you reckon this game will ever update again? Looks like the author is too busy playing with his vending machines
There hasn't been an update since March of 25. I'm really hoping the author wraps up the story and makes it perfect

For now we're going to start with an announcement on Discord and next week we'll post an official update across Steam, Social Media, and our email list.

## AFTABI GAMES WILL SOON BE THE OFFICIAL PUBLISHER OF SUNNYSIDE

Some of you have noticed recently that SunnySide was removed from the Playstation store. There was a lot of speculation around what was happening and why, but we wanted to wait until everything was complete before cluing the community into the situation.

The truth is that our legal team has been working tirelessly to regain full control of SunnySide across all platforms. The Playstation removal was the result of a DMCA takedown effort.

As of today, we have canceled our publishing contract with Maximum Entertainment, and full publishing rights will reverted back to their rightful home once more on **February 1st 2026**.

## So what's next?

Steam is the first application that will be transferred back to us, so you'll be seeing some small updates to the store page in the next week or two, including a price reduction to **$19.99 USD** (we'll figure out the international stuff later)

**For Playstation:** The game has already been removed from the store. If you have purchased the game on Playstation, you should still be able to play the game without any issues. We're looking into this, but it's going to take some time so we appreciate your patience.

**For XBox:** We're currently waiting on Xbox to remove the game from the store. More info to come.

**For Consoles:** This is a very big process that we're not fully prepared for. Our preference was to have the game completely removed from all platforms outside of Steam, but it turns out that it's better for us to actually gain control of the accounts. We're not sure what this will look like or what the plan moving forward will be, but for now, SunnySide will only be available for purchase on Steam while we get our ♥♥♥♥ together. <:katluv:869033259097526302> We appreciate your patience and understanding!

## Okay, so what about Steam?

We're going to be working on a series of updates over the coming months, hoping to lay a brick by brick path that will eventually pave the way to a true SunnySide 2.0 release.

We will not be launching a new Steam application, and we're currently developing a way for everyone who loves SunnySide to play whichever version of the game that they prefer most. We'll try our absolute best to make sure you won't lose your saves or progress, and we're honestly super excited about what the future holds for our first (and let's face it, our favorite) game.

## What about Vending Dokan?

VDKK isn't going anywhere! We're still going to release updates and continue building it, but production will slow down slightly. Is it smart to build two games at the same time?
No.
Are we going to do it anyway?
You bet.

No one is holding us back any more, and we're finally going to give you, the fans who have supported us this whole way, all the gaming action you deserve (and finally make some damn money in the process <a:Rainbowyukio:1357836784142127335> )

It won't. The game has feature creep. They don't own the IP unless they buy it back.
That's a real shame. I remember hearing before that the author would resume updates after their next game made some money

This isn't accurate. The console versions are what they cannot update due to not owning dev kits to do so. They can still update the PC version, but it costs money to do so which is why they're working on Vending Dokan inbetween updates.
I would still recommend this game, at least when its in a sale. Yes there are still some annoying bugs and the performance is not the greatest (specially in the mines) but its still a very fun game. Farming is great, world is pretty, i love the music and the charakters are nice.

I think it has more to do with how the Devs treat the people who actually purchased the game with cruelty. The things I've read them say and do on here and on Reddit are completely absurd and inappropriate, especially when they make people feel like dirt because they call the developers out for their own lies.

So I hope and pray that this *is* accurate, because a Developer who whines and attacks the poor people who actually buy this rancid little game doesn't deserve to profit off of it.

I was actually really hopeful for this game. Even my wife was disappointed to see them steer away from it.

I just don't see how Vending Dokan! is profitable and worth pursuing? It has about 8 total concurrent players (all-time 104). Sunnyside sits at about the same of 5-10 concurrent players (all-time 1,320) BECAUSE they "paused" updates on it.

To add, there isn't even an update or blog of any sort in almost a full year. They really had a chance with the game and then they just sprinted away from it as soon as the console port from a 3rd party debacle happened. Heck, I was even disappointed to hear when they changed studio names.

TLDR: I just really feel the game dug a grave for the rest of the genre to jump on top of it with newer entries.
The lack of updates (news) really is their biggest fault imo, i dont want to hear news from other users and you cant tell your customers "join our discord for any hope on news". You have to come to the customers not the other way around.

And this lack of communication was a problem from the beginning. Many people did not know about the ongoings behind the scenes because you had to go out of your way to learn about it.

Honesty and proactive communication could have gone a long way in this Situation in my opinion.

And every dev that moves support and stuff like that to discord should seriously rethink. Because it also means you cant google the stuff that is discussed there and most people will not join a discord to see if their problem was solved there and instead just drop the game and/or leave a negative review.
I don't understand this studio. They had a great game that differs from the competition primarily in its time and modern approach, and they're rushing into another one. All they needed was some refinement, possibly dividing the world into sectors that load, and the rest is database operations. The game is poorly optimized because it loads too large an area. I played around with the cheat engine to run fast, so I know it doesn't load characters, etc., but it generates the entire area, including the caves.
I've got the game on steam and ps5, the console being my goto since steam is on a potato. How -complete- is it?
Publisher screwed ‘em!
They’re getting rights back to Sunnyside next month!
