Watering the chickens

I don't know if I'm just dumb and can't read but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put water in the small animal waterer. I've been finding myself getting frustrated over how some things just do not get explained even in the tutorials.

Use the bucket on the hose to collect water. This will create a resource item in your inventor, being a bucket of water. Use this on the water dispenser for chickens.

How do you collect water with the bucket? The river never let me. I usually just use the hose and spray the water station.

if it is close enough you can use the hose also to fill it

I found this confusing as well. It's more intuitive to take the bucket to the hand pump because I assumed it had to sit there and 'fill' up but the only way to fill it is using the hose, that I found. I think they should allow you to fill it directly from the hand pump or river.

I just use the hose. Make sure the water is directly on what you are trying to fill. You should see the water level rise.
