*SPOILER Information/Explanation one thing
I arrived on Virmire attack the Geth, I'll have to choose who will die between Ashley or Kaidan, but there is a way to not sacrifice? I have read that doing quests fast, die neither is it?

There is no way to save both of them. That's deliberate decision. You have to choose who to save.

One of them have to die, it's impossible to save both. Little recomendation: let Ashley die, it will give you a better story in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

How is this?

I'm playing with a female Shepard and even then I'm inclined to let good ol' Kaidan die for the cause...

Search for " Mass Effect Finishing with Ashley AND Kaidan" on Youtube.

Do you mean that it's possible?

Apparently. I've never done it myself though. Watch the video it's only a few minutes long.
After a very difficult decision I saved Ashley - I role played it. She was protecting the nuke. If the Geth got gto the nuke the mission would fail. What happens in ME 1 if you choose to save Kaidan ?

S.x.

Watched the videos. Not possible.

Basically, the vids depict an exploit of the savegames that "teleport" you to the final battle with both characters. The savegame ends up so screwed that it can't be imported to ME2.

Pretty stupid and lame if you ask me.

Pick the one you prefer, character-wise. There's not much overall difference in the long run unless you romance one of them.

Ashley and Kaidan, while mostly their 'own characters' at first, because of the Virmire choice, turn into 'Virmire Survivor' ('VS') in ME2-ME3, and for the most part, have nearly identical stories for the rest of the series, just with slightly different tones. One difference is that Ashley stays hetero, while Kaidan can fall in love with Shepard later on, if you so choose to pursue that.

But yeah, one has to die, and it colors the whole series, considering that until mid ME3, NO ONE HAS to die. So even a 'perfect' Shepard will remember backwards to Virmire.

As I always play a fem!Shep I've always chosen to save Ashley because it is so easy to romance Kaiden when you talk to him, even though it's obvious that Kaiden has a thing for Shepard from the time where you had to pull him away from the Prothean beacon on Eden Prime. There is not difference like some one the others said, just small tweaks depending on your Shepard and if you've romanced them or not.

Interesting, if you play as man Shep, it's Ashley who you pull away from the beacon. They've clearly set this thing up in advance so you can romance them or whatever.

Either way, I've saved Kaidan, simply because I couldn't save Ashley - the enemies attacking her were a bit too hard for me at the time, so I chose the easier path, even though I wanted to save her. Both of them are fairly useless though I think, I haven't used them at all throughout the game.

You save one of them not with bullets, but with a single decision. When you chose to help one, the other is automatically doomed. It doesn't matter who is setting up the bomb or who is holding the line at the tower. At the very moment of the radio chat, you going forward to the tower or going back decides who dies.

Ash is very useful depending on your character class. She's a pure soldier, and packs quite a punch. Maybe your Shep was a soldier too and you found her irrelevant. I play vanguards or inflitrators and the lady has played a fine part in my squad. Biotics would need her even more.
