Mass Effect (2007)

Mass Effect (2007)

Mass effect doesn't work on win7?
I downloaded it and it keeps crashing a LOT. I re-installed it with the same problems.
I started the game as admin. It helped a little bit, but it still crash a lot.
My computer is good enough for the game.

a) saying "my computer is good enough" doesnt help you or us. we need specs.
b) I've played through the game 10 times on win7. The problem is in your system.

I have got serious problems with game saves. The game itself works stable. But saving a game is allways risky. I never know if the game save is corrupt or not. I allways save three times a game when saving once (maybe the issue occure because my documents are stored on a net share).
My sound is very creapy (read about problems with Creative X-Fi cards.

But exept thows two no-go Errors the game works fine.

I have the very same issue. My system runs every other game on it perfectly, and Mass Effect runs very smoothly until it all of a sudden freezes and I get this message:

"Rendering thread exception:

I'm running on a toshiba with intel core i7, this game randomly crashing is the only issue I've had with gaming. I hope the error message helps.

Try running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2 as an administrator.

The way steam handles games, it appears I can only modify steam to run through compatability mode. I tried this and it crashed shortly after the game started. The actual mass effect folder only has saved files.

The actual Mass Effect folder contains everything, including the .exe files. It is usually located (default Steam install) in your steam folder under "\steamapps\common\Mass Effect" (eg. mine is "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect")

I found it shortly after I posted that comment, and set both the launcher and the masseffect launcher apps to run as admin in compatability mode. The following game session lasted much longer than the last few, but crashed as soon as I exited the Mako with the same error message.

I tried it again with the "runme" app which directly starts the game from the game files under the same settings, and it crashed after about 5 minutes aswell, this time with a much lengthier error message which was the same one as before, with a bunch of exceptions listed under it aswell.

Im in the same boat as reokso, but I have no idea what setting a file or game to compatability mode is/means/ or how to do it.

I am having the same problem. It will not load at all. Please help.

It's not a problem with Windows, that's almost a definite. First, make sure your video drivers are up to date. If that doesn't work, make sure your sound drivers are up to date.

My copy of the game doesnt work. I own Windows 7. Therefore, anyone with Windows 7 cant play this game.

Great logic. Might as well say You own a computer, the game doesnt run, therefore the game doesnt run on PC.

I just beat the game i own Win 7. Off to mass effect 2.

He was just saying what operating system he was running and didn't know if it had something to with it. Notice the question mark. That little piece of punctuation makes your snide comment look plain douchey. And of course the nature of windows; if somebody has a problem on it, it's certain somebody else has it too. Just how it works.

Unfortunately my main laptop took a nasty fall and I'm still waiting for the box from the service center, so I'll let you know if any of these ideas work when I'm able.
