Assault Rifle: Accuracy vs Damage
At what point would you pick up an assault rifle with lower damage but higher accuracy?

I just found one with an accuracy of 5, whereas all I'd ever seen was rated at just 1. I doubt it means it is five times as accurate, that five times as many rounds reach the target. So I'm asking how you guys judge which assault rifle is better than another (it's easy enough to figure out when the only variable is damage).

Well, personally I like stacking up DOT using ammo mods so I like getting lots of rounds onto target with weaker rounds.

Really it's up to you though

Strictly damage. You only need to worry about that accuracy thing (at least from what I've see) when you are trying to shot long range. Even then, there is the Overkill talent which helps a lot with that.

Since this is ME1. Honestly, just stick with the pistol + sniper for extra long-range. Pistol is op and is really all you need.

On a recent outing, I arbitraily switched to the pistol, as my assault rifle simple wasn't hitting my target very often. In real life, he would have been about 60 yeards away. The pistol was much more accurate and dealt far more damage over time. Doesn't seem right to me.

Yeah the accuarcy factor makes it better to think of assault rifles as large smgs. They just simply better at mid range and close quarters if you in anyway lack skill to boost thier accuarcy.

If you go with riles, use overkill. Of coarse, if your a few feet from your target it doesnt matter, but then you should be using a shotgun. Otherwise use the pistoles.

And combat in ME1 is really simple as your squad mates AI can easily hit hard to get enemies, just keep them in cover, as they are to dumb to dodge, especially the more dangerous enemies

At the beginning, most of the Rifles are horrid in terms of accuracy - use a Pistol instead.

It will be a while before decently accurate ARs start appearing - from past experience (I played ME 1 long long ago) I start finding acceptable ARs when Item Level 4 gear (*name* IV) starts appearing.
