It appears so.

When a bullet travels that fast the hydroshock bow wave of pressure combined with the deceleration explosively decompresses the target. Unless there's a backup of his brain somewhere (maybe there is, maybe there isn't) then his childhood memories are splattered on cement.

Actually, there's a back ground model that look's exactly like him but wearing different armor in ME2. He's located at the police office on illium where you go to talk to Samara. So, I guess that technically counts being alive?

I have a screenshot of it...Somewhere, lol. I've taken so many screenshots of ME2 I think it was one of my first shots on Steam.

He's dead.

He is simply your introduction to Eden Prime, the Spectres, and Saren.

Though players liked Nihlus so I guess be open to the possibility of Bioware turning him in some form, I guess. *shrug*

At least he gets killed by Saren and not by husks or Geth, Nihlus is a spectre and a Turian, Turians are supposed to be a strong military power and a leadertype race in the galaxy. It wouldnt be good for the players introduction to the Mass Effect universe to see Nihlus get killed "just like that".

Well...He was shot in the back by a bad guy the player just met, I really wouldn't call that an "honorable" or a "blaze of glory!" death. It was okay but sometimes when I play ME1 I feel like they could have done more with some characters. Which they did get pretty good at character developement in ME2 but anything before that felt unfinished.

One of my favourite fan theories is that the infamous Mr Marauder Shields at the end of ME3 is in fact Nihlus

...Plot twist! but of all the chances in the world XD
I think you're confusing him for either Garrus or Saren. Its just like you racist humans to think all turians look the same
