Mass Effect Will Not Launch
Evertime I try to start the game I get an error that reads MassEffect.exe - Bad Image. In the description it says that d3dx9_31.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. I have tried many fixes but none have worked. I have tried reinstalling Directx9 but when I run the installer it just says there is already a more recent version installed and it won't continue. The only fix I've seen and haven't tried is a fresh install of windows, and I don't really want to do that. If you can provide advice it would be very appreciated!

I have already tried every compatibility option available. I get the same error. I think it has to do with directx but it won't let me reinstall.

Have you tried updating it to the most recent patch? For some reason, Steam doesn't provide it so you'll have to download it from Bioware's site.

Yeah, I've installed the patch, uninstalled than installed again and still nothing.

if you have openend your 1.02 patch you need to go to your folder (steam/steamapps/cummon/masseffect/binaire) and then use the mass efect config first and then try to open ME

What do you mean use the config? I can open the config and fiddle with it but Mass Effect still won't actually work. Same with the launcher.
