Mass Effect Xbox controller button layout issues
Hello guys.

I have searched for this issue everywhere with no avail so I better ask here.

I downloaded the Xbox controller patch from Nexus so my Xbox controller can work with the game, the game recognizes the controller pretty well and most of the commands are assigned where they should be. The problem is that there are certain commands that are not assigned to the controller such as draw / put away weapon and the zoom, which makes the game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying to play.

I checked the game's command layout to assign them manually, I can only assign keyboard buttons but I can't find a way to assign controller keys.

Any idea what can I do? I already ran the game in admin mode with no avail and I want to avoid Xpadder or JoytoKey.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Which mod are you using? What controller are you using?

I've been using Dybuk's, no problems so far with X360 Wireless:
ME1Controller

Thanks for answering. That's actually the mod I installed but for me it doesnt run that well.

If it's not too much to ask, can you tell me the exact steps you did to install the mod? I have followed the Dybuk's instructions but possibly there's a vital step I am missing or it wasn't included in the instructions since I saw commentaries of other people saying that you must do something with the binaries but I don't have any clue.

By the way I am using a generi USB Xbox 360 controller.

Bindings:
I forgot to say earlier, the game's settings won't have bindings for controller; the only thing I have edited within files is thumbstick sensitivity & dead-zone, as per Dybuk's instructions. I have not changed any default bindings for KB within game (unsure if changes could affect mod).
Filepath: C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config\BIOInput.ini

Hardware:
I'm not sure if X360 wirelss vs. wired would matter; however, I have played older games on Steam that only functioned properly with a wired one (possible driver difference?). Only one controller is currently installed. I did have miscellanious input issues at one point, but after removing and re-inserting USB cable, they resolved.

System:
No issues noticed within "Devices and Printers" (controller is set as default and tests fine).
Device Manager: No issues listed for "USB Controllers" and "Xbox 360 Peripherals".
I'm using Win 10 Pro 64-bit, Build 16299, as per DirectX 12's report.
Controller driver: 9/28/17, 10.0.16299.15.
No issues reported in dxdiag.

Steam:
Under "Controller Settings" list, only "Gude Button Focuses Steam" is active, no others such as "Xbox Configuration Support". The correct controller is displayed within "Detected Controllers"; however, in the past, I have had to click the "Identify" button, which should vibrate the controller. I havn't used the calibration tool. I am currently launching Steam as admin.

My Procedure Difference:
My steps were the same as mod author's instructions, with one difference. I had already been playing the game, installed mod, and upon continuing same game, I had a mixture of KB and controller; which means I could use Quick Save (F6), Map (M), etc. At one point, I remember a new character not having these (not sure why), but while testing just now, they were functioning... perhaps toggling between characters had an affect?

Mods:
ME1Controller: 29JAN2018, v1.2.2
This is the only mod I have installed, so no concerns with conflicts.

Binaries, MEUITM & Misc:
I didn't mess around with binaries; I use vibration anyway.
MEUITM is a texture mod.
Dybak comments about these and has the following link on Nexus page:
https://github.com/john-peterson/bin-patch/wiki/XInput (binaries)
https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffect/mods/1/ (MEUITM)

Note:
I see you asked Dybuk, but I didn't skim all the comments on Nexus; did anyone else have your same issue?
