Steam auto-updates - can't use mods?
Hello all. I'm eager to replay Mass Effect 1 with enhanced graphics so I've installed the MEUTIM and an ENB mod. Problem is that now when I launch Mass Effect it wants to update the game which will overwrite the meuitm mod.

I can see others on Steam who are successfully using the MEUITM mod. But how do you get past the auto update?

Any help would be very appreciated.

Go to Library, right click on Mass Effect -> Properties -> Updates.

The only options there are as follows:

"Always keep this game up to date"
"Only update this game when I launch it"
"High-priority - always update this game before others"

So unfortunately there is no option to turn off updates altogether.

I'm sorry, I remember there was some kind of option to disable any updates in Steam. That's why I still have MEUTIM mod on my Mass Effect and it runs fine.

So because you had it set that way at one point it is still fine today? But if someone tries to install MEUITM right now they are going to have to jump through hoops to get it to work?

I'm not sure. Well, Steam does not autoverifies/updates after you runned ME once before you install any other mods to the game

Mass Effect had no update in years. Just played through it a few days ago with MEUITM.
No problem installing or playing. So not sure why you get that update message.

Also make sure to run the game at least once before installing any mods like Blitz said.

I got MEUTIM working fine. I installed the game, launched it, changed a few options and then closed it. I followed the guide afterwards and I've had no issues.
