Myths Begone!: Tech/biotic Protection (AKA Hardening)
so whether it's the net or people in general one rule is true: people are ♥♥♥♥♥s

When it comes to that Tech/Biotic Protection stat on your armor, this is especially true. Before i get into what this stat actually does lemme explain what most people think it actually does.

If you were to google it, you're likely come out of that search thinking this stat does nothing significant other than reduce the burn damage over time when you get hit by a overheat tech. and that it has no effect on the more important stats of getting Sabotaged. At least that’s what an earnest search for me found. On the other end you’ll come out thinking it’s not as important as Damage Protection. The latter may be true, but the rest isn’t.

field test: i went into a battle where i knew i'd get hit with sabotaged, and while it wasn't an ideal scenario it did give 100% consistent results over several test some identical to each other just to make sure it was consistent.

i used the Medium Colossus X armor on my infiltrator, the armor gives a protection in this stat of 28 and i first used no armor mods. the results were when my gun got sabotaged the heat would not go down and remain overheated for 7 seconds. then i attached two combat armor mods that added an additional 35% tech/biotic protection each. the results were the heat on my gun after being sabotaged started cooling down after only 3 seconds. a very significant improvement especially if you're the only real dps in your squad.

it also had an equally significant impact when i got hit with Dampening. Without Immunity, i dropped like a sack of potatoes with and without extra damage protection mods once the shields went out. with Immunity i could stand in open fire a long time either way.

Armor change: i switched to the Predator M X with a stat of 42 and found that without mods weapon started cooling after 6.5 seconds without mods, however with hardening mods weapon started cooling after 3 seconds. i also discovered that with damage protection mods and Immunity i drop significantly faster in this armor. so the conclusion is this stat helps alot, but only with the armor upgrades. also the armor on the colossus is more important than the hardening the Predator from the Turian license provides. if you don't have fitness/immunity your going down hard in either armor once the shields run out.

update: on the predator with only 1 hardening mod overheat started cooling at 4.5 seconds, on the Colossus same thing.
