Mass Effect (2007)

Mass Effect (2007)

How to give game more memory, preventing out of virtual memory error.
Only works on Windows 64 bit.

Download "Large Address Aware"
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/

Start program and locate MassEffect.exe in :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Mass Effect\Binaries.
Enable Large Address Aware Flag.
Mass Effect can now use 4 GB memory instead of 2 GB.

4GB patch or Large Adress Aware does not work for me (64 bits windows 10). The game simply refuses to launch with the patch installed (only game that worked for me was Mass Effect 3 and there it didnt make a difference). Definitely worth a try but in most cases it should not make a difference (I can run all games in the trilogy at ultra high settings on a potato PC btw and even then it doesnt make a difference)

How about this one[ntcore.com]?

Also, if you haven't installed texture mods, you should have no need for this (which has an effect even on 32-bit windows btw). You can can run ME1 even in 8K with the highest settings out of the box.

Yep, it's the texture mods that devour virtual memory, requiring a workaround for the 2GB
cap.

I have no texture mods, I use ultra high settings, all vanilla (with some .ini tweaks). This is why it either does not make a difference (in ME3) or the game simply refuses to launch (in the case of ME1 and ME2). All the games, even ME1, look awesome without texture mods on ultra high settings. Its just something magical about those games and UE3 (they look beautiful, by 2021 standards, especially ME3)

Worked for me, no mods, but sometimes out of virtuell memory, LAA enabled helped.
Worth at try.

Yes, trying it is worth it but for me just doesnt work as I already set my VRAM to be optimized enough with the RAM I have available so LAA doesnt make a differnce in my case (I have games installed on the same computer that already demand the highest possble VRAM values I can use with my RAM so in only a couple of games I play LAA actually makes a difference and makes gameplay slightly better and smoother). And the ME trilogy games are not those kind of games
