DLCs fail to install ???
Trying to do my first playthrough with all of the DLCs....but they fail to install for me. Rebooted my PC and reinstalled the game twice: nothings worked.

the installers just give me an "installation failed!" message.

It sort of works when I copy pasta the autoload.ini file from one dlc to the other, the issue is, I only got the one from pinnacle station, although I am actually not even sure if bringing down the sky had one to begin with. So if I start a new campaign I can actually play Pinacle station, but not Bringing down the Sky. Question. Does anyone have the Bringing down the sky autoload.ini file by any chance? I would preciate it if you were to paste the contents here. Thanks

You'll also need the DLC files. The "AutoLoad.ini" file is just to make things go, there for the game to recognise that the DLC exists and is installed. I still had mine, and you too still should have yours, for some reason the autoload.ini file in one of them was gone, if you had the DLC installed once. At least that's how I think how you do it, it worked for me, I don't know if it ll work for anyone else.

I contacted EA and while not a solution for your Steam copy, they gave me a free copy on Origin which includes the DLC by default for those of you who wish to choose this solution. You will need a screenshot of your Steam receipt and the email confirmation, though it's understandable if you would want to avoid using their platform, especially when things like this happen.

What did you say to get them to offer this? I tried chatting with EA Help twice about ME not launching on my machine. They just kept telling me it's Steam's problem, talk to them. I said I would want to install the DLC once I got it running, so I'd need a CD key. He said they couldn't help me, ask Steam.

Since I can't get it running on Steam, maybe downloading from Origin would help me.

I just told them that I was unable to install ME1's DLC as my Steam CD Key was missing/removed, and then pasted EA Charlemagne's post on Page 2, which said to contact EA support to get them back. There was a lot of waiting as the EA rep had no clue about what I was talking about, and had to contact their manager etc, and even though they couldn't generate Steam keys apparently, they were able to offer me an Origin version of ME1 as an alternative. Actually, they seemed to give me the whole trilogy since ME2 and ME3 also appeared as "new" in my Origin library, unless that was EA Play somehow carrying them over.

Pointed Origin to my steam install of ME1 after that, and it downloaded a little bit more, and then finished, and then I just re-verified everything on Steam to be safe. ME1's config has had the DLCs listen with CD Keys ever since, and they seem to working just fine when using Steam now.

The 3 EA Help agents I chatted with all refused to help me. They said there was nothing they could do, and referred me to Steam support. And of course, Steam's support pages all refer me back to EA Help.

passing the blame huh... Steam did provide me with my missing key so I'd try them again... this reminds me of when Missile Glitching plagued ME3 Platinum lobbies back in my XBOXLive days... M$ said that it was up to EA to fix since it was their servers while EA told me that the onus was on XBOX to ban the cheaters because of their paid subscription...

all this talk of some supposed "exploit" is all probably nonsense... both parties are likely sabotaging these games by design to sell the new remaster which has so far been less than impressive... all 3 games are mysteriously experiencing difficulties launching at the very same time trailers and gameplay footage is being released for the 'Legendary Edition'...

I haven't even tried ME2 yet, but there's been alot of problems reported this past week accessing the DLCs which people all ready paid for... I have to re-install 'Origin' everytime I want to play ME3 now (new this past week) while changing the registry is a prerequisite to playing this game now...

I just don't get how punishing those who've paid helps any problems of piracy... in fact, it inspires many to go that route because the official versions don't work... they don't have to worry about a publisher changing their keys... they're not losing the money that they claim with piracy... most pirates had no intention of ever paying anything to begin with... this wreaks of EA forcefeeding a remaster to those who don't want it... why would Steam interfere?... they make money off of new sales as well... yikes...:-)

I got helped on first pass with an EA agent, they issued me the trilogy on Origin. But definitely would have gotten nowhere if I didn't miraculously have an email from like 6 years ago...

I have the same problem, and when I try to view the product key it gets stuck at "Requesting key ...", and nothing I have tried seems to work to fix this, so I have been forced to use the universal key: 5GUCXRFPQNBMTJBD3L5J

The problem is that the game automatically changes the registry when starting it, so I had to modify the file "...\Mass Effect\installscript.vdf" and change '%CDKEY%' to the universal key.

This fixed it for me

Yeah, Steam support flat out refused to help. They referred me back to EA Help and sent a link to the support page for Dead Space 2, like she couldn't even be bothered to pay attention to what game I'm asking about.

Thankfully this community rocks. I followed the steps from the first 3 comments in this thread and both DLC packs installed. Thanks all!
