Halp Im stuck - "decryption skill too low"
I am about 9 hours into the game and I have come to a point where I am stuck.

I am on ferros at this part - https://youtu.be/Qdg38dsihE4?t=4m18s - In this walkthrough the guy just opens the door, but for me it says "decryption skill too low" and I cant open the door!

I cant progress at all and there is nowhere else to go.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this, or if there is any way to fix this problem? I have not been able to open any crates or locks for the past 3 or 4 hours it always says decryption skill too low, I suspect it is a bug.

You decryptions skill is too low. That one requires master decryption I think.

Anyway, its not needed to go there, just go to the barrier and when said to find another way, jump down the opening just a few feet away from said barrier.

That door is just there for the chest

BTW how do I upgrade my decrytion skill? I have upgraded tonnes of skills on the skill menu (U) but there is no decryption option there?

Depends on what class you are playing. If Shepard doesn't have a Decryption skill, then (s)he will be entirely dependent on the squad's skills. Kaidan and Garrus both have the potential for good Decryption skills if I remember correctly. I believe Tali also.

all thats in that room is a loot container,an explosive barrel and a geth armature...
