Game Failing to Launch ME1
As the title says. I've done the compatibility (checking off run as admin as well) recommendation, I've downloaded the NVIDIA link also listed in previous posts, and I've attempted to research the issue forward. Essentially, I get past the launch portion of the loading, and enter a black screen - no sound, nothing.

Unsure what to do now. Has anyone else come across this issue and found a solution?

I had a similar problem and then I remembered a solution that I has used to fix Tera and other game. My problem was due to the fact that I already had a later version of OpenAL32.dll installed on the sytem in Windows System32 and SysWOW64 folders. This was causing a conflict with the one supplied with Mass Effect in the binaries folder.

Simply either move OpenAL32.dll to another directory or rename it (I ised OpenAL32.dllorg). This resollved the conflict and Mass Effect starts succesfully now.

Hope this helps others who may experience this problem.

That doesn't fix it for me. It still fails to even bring up the launcher.

Right Click your Steam Icon before you sign-in to Steam and 'Run As Administrator'...:-)

Run as admin is the physx issue on start.
The guy is beyond that.

Would you mind logging game start with procmon[technet.microsoft.com], then attach report somewhere?
