Lost achievements
For some reason, all of a sudden my achievements have reset- which is annoying considering their in-game-effects. And while I can live without most of them, I was really looking forward to getting top-of-the line spectre gear on lvl 50 with "rich" achievement.

Is there any way to restore that?

I tried the console, but was unable to make it work (I don't use a US-keyboard).

Why in the first place you are playing for in-game achievements?

becuase they unlock higher difficultys and have an effect when you import the save to Mass Effect 2...

Wait, what? Achievements in one game influence the experience of another?! That is plain unfair.

Does anyone know a solution, though?

Well I used Yandex and it did say:

Enable the console
Go to My Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect\Config
Open the BIOInput.ini file with a text editor
Under the [Engine.Console], add the ConsoleKey=Tilde line
Unlock achievements
Start the game
Open the in-game console by hitting the ` key
Type unlockachievement n where n is a number between 1 and 47. They will unlock the achievement with that number. The site I linked has a full mapping between the number and the achievement, but I just went through and enabled them all.

You don't need to be level 50 to obtain Spectre gear.

Completing a game on higher levels of difficulty and / or achieving Level 60 will provide you with additional bonus XP and credits when importing your save-file to Mass Effect 2. But it's not the achievements that grant the bonuses.

Firstly, let my thank you all for you input!

Oh, I thought I needed lvl 50 and the "Rich" achievement in order to buy lvl 10 Spectre gear.

As for ME2- phew, that's a relief. 60 seems doable, achievements or no. And if not, well, no bonus XP... no big deal, I guess.

@T02mySeriousSite.ru: Thanks for the description. My trouble is, I'm using a German keyboard and after having edited the .ini, I don't find the correct key while running the game, the console just won't open.

As for mapping another key to the command- I don't which one will work and which string entered in the file will work. "Hash" certainly doesn't, I've tried.

Gosh, I hate this, it feels like cheating, even though strictly speaking I have been cheated by some bug. Is this a known issue, btw? Couldn't find anything on it yet, but the game isn't stricly new...

Ok, I've been stupid. In the .ini-file, the line "ConsoleKey=[whatever]" is not the first line in the [Engine.Console] section, but the last (if you don't add TypeKey=[whatever] after that).

Console works fine with the CapsLock-Key now.

However, achievements are not saved and get purged on every restart.

You'll always get some bonus XP and credits for importing a save to ME2. Higher difficulties and levels provide higher bonuses, that's all.

All you need are credits to purchase Level X Spectre gear. The way the game's economy works, you probably won't have enough credits until around Level 35 or so. They're not level-locked or achievement-locked. You can always use the console (as you're trying to do).

Btw, best armor in the game - the Jormangund stuff - is only available via console. Devs decided not to make it generally available in the game for some reason.

Do people really enjoy the gameplay of first ME so you could care what gear to buy or etc?
cf.barbossa Oct 30, 2017 @ 1:03pm
Well, yes, I mostly enjoy the gameplay, although to my taste, it's a bit shooter-y for an RPG. And yes, I do care for the gear, although I haven't bought that much.

Nah, I'm not to eager to cheat, I just want my achievements back. Not that they were terribly hard to get, but what's mine is mine :-) Seriously, there seems no other way to get them back and they won't stay connected to my profile, so I guess I can forget about the bonus in ME2. Seems thats really not a problem- as long as everything else is imported.

Btw- I've had a look on the wikia and I think that the overpowered "cut" stuff should stay cut- some of it seems more like items for testing game mechanics.
