What to do - grenades
I'm at the part where you want to use grenades to not kill colonists, but I think I'm out of grenades, I think I inadvertantly wasted them all on the first group.

Is there a way to get more, or does that mean I just need to kill the colonists I had not wanted to?

You can tell your squad to stay behind then run up to the colonists and melee them with the butt of your gun. It doesnt kill them just knocks them out and you get a **** ton of paragon for it

But the main camp area seems dominated by hostile colonists and more before the camp?

There are swarms of colonists and they seem to kill pretty fast, sort of barfing an attack - I'm not sure the guys can get through them with Shepard rifle butting?

Just walk/run to the colonist and melee them so they won't die, i tried this method on hardcore difficulty and it works after few deaths.

I'm in a place where there are perhaps 25 hostile colonist on the halls and at the base.

You're suggesting I can get past all that with rifle butting?

Oh, and how do I melee butt with the gun? Shepard is an engineer.

You seem to mistaking colonists and creepers. Thorian Creepers are not colonists (Or rather they are zombie dead dudes who it doesn't matter if you kill). Only named colonists or ones simply named 'colonist' are you meant to use the gas grenades on. Creepers you can gun down with impunity.

To use melee you have to get right up next to an enemy and attack. It seems to be a bit hit and miss for me though.

The game says there are 12 colonists. I'm not sure if that means I've killed any yet.

Does butting work with any gun, since he uses the pistol normally?

It's a little tricky distinguishing creepers and colonists then since you mouse over to see the name while they attack, but good to know.

I'd thought they were all colonists, though I noticed in one room the gas only worked on some and maybe the others are ok to kill.

Just went to the next room. Four enemies and killed them without telling if they're creepers or colonists, then two in the back I checked, they have names and rifle butt worked.

But no paragon points when I butted them.

Maybe those are at the end of the mission.

Worked well. Butted some colonists, got 5 grenades, used them on the rest.

Actually finished the planet. But one strange thing - the guy for a completed quest Gavin Hossle still shows as an orange ! on the map though he just says thanks when clicked.

Weird but guess I'll ignore that.

Gavin is bugged if u did his mission you're fine. As was said colonists have names or are called colonist.

Creepers are green husks that puke on you shoot them its fine.

You get paragon points when you use the lift and head into the tunnel

Yes pistol works fine I play as an adept

There were 16 total, so you killed four of them. If you spared Shiala (the Asari) or did any of the sidequests for power/food/water etc. you spared enough to get the 'good' ending and what results from that in ME2. You need to have spared Shiala to get the 'reward' in ME3.

Interesting. I think I did and got the 'good' ending - but not much paragon.
