It absolutely does have an effect. Unless you go out of your way to erase any trace of engine defaults, game engines have built in render pipelines that are recognizable in a lot of ways. Often times this comes from lighting and post-processing defaults. A lot of people can sense when a game was made in unreal engine for example. "It just has that unreal engine look", I've heard it a million times and its usually spot on lol.
