A psychedelic journey about finding yourself as well as finding dope ass planets to jam across. What a phenomenal game, thank you Beethoven & Dinosaur.

As a metaphor for or meditation on the nature of artistic identity and inspiration, it works. There are moments when the raw creative joy of making music, or art generally, peeks through the otherwise simple mechanics of pressing one, two, or three buttons "when you're ready" (ad infinitum).

As a game, though, it leaves much to be desired; the platforming is floaty and sticky, the musical jams incredibly basic and short, and the exploration of the sets a bit tedious and one-note. To my taste, the writing is also a bit self-important and pretentious at times (a Colorado town filled with Bob-Dylan-loving hipsters) - a sort of twee, sense-making through nonsense schtick - but I'll admit it ties together neatly when it comes full circle to its campy, earthy conclusion; in other words, when it takes itself less seriously or grounds itself.
