Mirror's Edge

One of the Most Beautiful Games Ever Made?
I think Mirror's Edge might just be the most beautiful looking game ever made. There's nearly nothing ugly (except maybe the cutscenes) in this game! Everywhere you look there's great, vivid colour schemes and amazing views. Everything just goes so well together.

Or does anyone know of other such aesthetically great games? Alice: Madness Returns and Journey would probably be the other ones that I can think of.

you're right but the cutscenes are ugly.

the cut scenes arent ugly but they def opted out of trying to make cool cgi cut scenes. I appreciate the comic book style tho the game already looks so good. If there was no anime they probably would of chosen in game cut scenes that look the same as the game.

I don't think covering everything in bloom qualifies a game as one of the most beautiful ever. Actually it kinda hurt my eyes after a while.

I quite like the cutscenes, it adds to the games artistic style. It's something that really stands out about the game and makes it even more unique.

Yeah, they stand out alright, in a bad way though. It's like realistic looking characters suddenly transform into cartoons temporarily, just doesn't fit. Their art style is fine but inappropriate for this game.

I really disagree. ME looks like crap to me. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics. The only thing that sort of works is the colouring.

ME was good for it's time, remember people are always going to speak out about graphics and unable to play due to their systems. I remember buying this for $60 when it first came out and I was blown away (also others at the time). I played it through 4 times, but sadly it has lost my "best game of all time" to Far Cry 3 due to the procession of gaming (better graphics, gameplay etc.)

I don't see people giving Mirrors Edge such an amazing review in this point of time since its been out for quite some time. For me, it was one of my top 3 games I've ever played, and if your wondering if you should buy it? Well.. for $5 on a game that requires you to pakour over anything, use weapons, good graphics, lots of interacting with characters, and AMAZING story.. you be the judge. We buy games to have a good time.. and this definitely gave it for me.

Visually, Far Cry 3 has nothing on Mirror's Edge, it's just yet another jungle island, seen that before and will again. The big city-scapes, all white against the blue and sunny sky, looking down on the streets below, that atmosphere and those colours, that's what ME is all about. But it's otherwise indeed just an "okay" game.
