As far as I know, you can use a Gamepad in Mirror's Edge, but can't reconfigure the buttons.

you can, but you cant change the controls, and the controls will act just like they do on the 360 versions of ME

As everyone else has said, yes you can; however, the buttons are very awkward. If you want to reconfigure them on a PC, go to
Documents/EAGames/Mirror's Edge/TdGame/Config
and open up TdInput. In that location, you should be able to find the various bindings for Xbox controller buttons.

Yes you can, just download the neaded drivers from microsoft, it's called: Xbox 360 accessories .
also keep in mind that you can use only either the wired type of it, or if you want to go wireless, you'll have to get an Xbox 360 nano receiver.
I myself play most of my games using that controller.

You can use a wired one with drivers. You can't customize the controls, anyway. But if you have a PS3 controller, use that instead. Wirelessly.

By the end of the campaign my left bumper was broken due to excessive jumping in game (although the controller was 5 years old). Yes 'A' would have been better.

You can customize the controls using a program called xpadder (xpadderDOTcom) It's $10 but it will allow you to map almost any keyboard stroke, combination of keys, or mouse movement and clicks to any controller. It kicks ass! Sorry, didn't mean for this to turn into a sales ad. :P

You can. As long as it's wired.

Wireless can as long as you have a receiver.
