Mirror's Edge DLC?
I seem to remember a bunch of DLC maps, does the steam edition include them?

Not officially. The Steam version of ME has no DLC.

There are mods, however...

Only the Origin version of Mirror's Edge has the DLC available. Lucky for you the current Humble Bundle is selling the Origin version of Mirror's Edge for pennies right now.

And there is a strong possibility said DLC might be added to the bundle after the first week in the batch of games added to main-line Humble bundles as observed in the past. Either way, it's a great bundle with all dev proceeds to charity and everyone buying it before the first week is over automatically gets the second week games.

Yeah DLC is only for retail/origin but catch is that online only works with steam version so they are basically useless maps.

The "online" works with all versions. No idea where you got that information from but it's not correct.

@Mairo - the online servers use to have some problems ages ago, but they work fine now. Don't remember that being a version-specific problem though.

Anyway, as already said, the DLC is only available for the retail or Origin versions; but if you own the game on Origin, purchase the dlc on there and also own the game on Steam (humble bundle gives you keys for both), you can kind of get the dlc working with Steam if you really don't want to use Origin to launch it.

Basically:
Install the Steam version
Origin will recognise it
Repair the installation in Origin (converts it to the Origin version, but Steam can still launch it/count game time ect...)
Install the DLC
Launch in Steam

As far as I can see it seems to work fine when doing that, but it is a lot of hassle just for the DLC though.

Thanks for this information @RossaF1, I had no idea there was a repair option in Origin that can convert Steam installations to Origin ones, saves a tonne of bandwidth! Any idea if that works for retail as well?

Honestly the only one I have tried that trick with is Mirrors Edge, so not sure if it works with other games.

The other game swapping trick with Origin I know which might help with other games is:
Start download with Origin
Close Origin (don't stop download)
Copy old game data to Origin game data folder (overwrite anything it needs to)
Start Origin and see if the download has skipped ahead

I have used that with a few games over time and it seems to be the only way of keeping Origin game data when you reinstall windows ect...

Great, thanks, didn't know Origin had that option! Steam has had it for ages and it is a huge time saver. For example if you have a DRM-free version of a game from Humble Bundle and you want to play it on Steam, you can install it to the steamapps/common directory and then launch installation from Steam normally, it auto discovers existing files and only downloads a fraction of the game files again (works for most games).
