The game won't launch. At all.

The game doesn't crash, no black screen, nothing at all except for a process in Task manager which sticks around for 10 seconds before disappearing.

I tried validating the files, re-downloading the game and fiddling around the Steam folder of the game. Also tried changing resolution via Steam launch options.

I have found a few solutions on the web, but I am unable to test them due to the missing /EA Games/ folder in Documents.

-Windows 7 64bit
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 560

Also unable to install latest Nvidia PhysX System Software due to "fatal error"

Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Are you sure your windows isn't corrupt?
Or try re-installing steam (but downloading all games again is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up)

I don't think Steam is the problem, but even if it is, I ain't reistalling it- too much pain.
And I have not touched my licensed Windows since I bought the PC, so I don't think it's corrupt.

have you installed all the windows updates? there is also a physx version for older games.Silverfall requires this update and was released in Mar. 2007 (wikipedia). and Mirror's Edge released in 2009.

dunno if it's required, since I might have downloaded all kinds of updated drivers and whatnot when I fresh installed Windows 8.

I would contact Nvidia also, since your computer is still under warranty.

Do any other games work? Try intensive games like Far Cry demos or Arkham Asylum/City demos. And maybe some older game demos.

Steam hasn't answered yet.

All my windows updates are up to date.
Downloaded the physx version vorik provided, did not help.
I haven't found any games that my PC can't run, including Farcry or Batman games.
I had my weak PC running Mirror's ages ago.

I am seriously considering getting the pirated version and trying it out, since I bought the game anyway and all that.

Well it would be weird if the pirated version would work.
Btw when going to tpb, type in mirror's edge, take the only with the most seeders, but also download the crack update (cause the one provided witht he game doesnt work very well).

I also own a gtx 560 (2x) but it works fine with me. btw.. it didn;t work at first, but after I took another driver it did.

I had the same problem since I buyed the game this morning.
After reinstalled PhysX system software ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.0613-driver.html ). Now it works perfectly. ;)
